OVERVIEW
More than a wedding DJ. Someone who helps the whole experience feel easy.
Your wedding day has a lot going on. Music, speeches, suppliers, timelines, family, friends and all those little moments that somehow need to come together at the right time. My role is to make the entertainment side feel simple.
I have been DJing for more than 25 years and have spent much of my working life around events, people and planning. I know how much thought goes into a wedding and I also know that once the day arrives, you should not be worrying about what song is next, whether the microphone is ready or if your DJ knows the run sheet.
You should be enjoying it.
That is really how I approach every wedding.
I listen first.
I want to know what you love, what you definitely do not want, what your guests are like and, most importantly, how you want the day to feel.
Some couples come to me with playlists, Spotify links and very clear ideas. Others tell me they love a few artists and want me to help with the rest.
Both are completely fine.
I am there to guide you where you need it, not tell you what your wedding should look or sound like.
Music has always been part of my world
I am a DJ, but I am also a musician.
I play saxophone, have studied music and have been around music for most of my life. I still love discovering new tracks, keeping up with what is trending and hearing what different generations are listening to. That background gives me a feel for timing, rhythm, energy and how music can change the mood of a room.
Sometimes the right song is not the biggest song.
It is simply the right song for that moment.
Your guests arriving might need something warm and relaxed.
Dinner might call for music that creates atmosphere without taking over.
Your first dance is completely personal.
And later, when everyone is ready to let their hair down, the whole feeling changes again.
I love that progression.
I mix live and read the room as the night unfolds. I watch what people respond to and move with them rather than arriving with a fixed playlist that has to be followed no matter what.
Your music gives me the direction.
Your guests help shape the journey.
Calm, grounded and full of energy
I am naturally a calm and grounded person, but I am also full of energy when the moment calls for it. Outside of DJing, I practise and teach yoga and sound healing. That part of my life has taught me a lot about presence, listening and being aware of what is happening around me.
It probably explains a lot about the way I DJ too.
I notice things.
I notice when people are ready for the energy to lift.
I notice when everyone needs a moment to breathe.
I notice when a song is working and I should simply leave it alone.
And I notice when the room is telling me it is time to change direction.
Wedding days do not always run exactly to schedule either.
Speeches go longer.
Photos take a little more time.
Dinner comes out late.
Someone disappears just before they are meant to speak.
That is normal.
I do not get flustered by those things.
I work with the venue, photographer, planner and the people around me, adjust what I am doing and keep the experience flowing.
You do not need to know that anything changed.
Your wedding should sound like you
I do not have a standard wedding playlist. Of course there are songs that people love and songs that fill dance floors, but every couple and every group of guests is different. I am an open format DJ, so I am comfortable moving between different decades, genres, cultures and styles.
One wedding might move through soul, disco, 80s, 90s, R&B and house.
Another might be pop, rock, current music and huge singalongs.
Another might have cultural music woven through the night alongside everything else.
That variety is one of the things I love most about weddings.
It is also why I like getting to know you before the day.
Tell me the songs that remind you of travelling together.
The artist you both love.
The song your friends always sing.
The tracks that absolutely cannot be played.
All of that helps me understand you.
I also love requests from guests. They can bring wonderful little moments into a wedding, and sometimes someone asks for exactly the song the room needs.
But a request is still a request.
I will always consider your brief and the feeling of the room before playing it.
I understand the bigger picture
My background in corporate and events is a big part of what I bring to weddings.
I understand run sheets, timings, cues and supplier coordination.
I am comfortable communicating with venues, photographers, videographers, celebrants, planners and other entertainers.
I know that the DJ is one piece of a much bigger day.
If the photographer needs another few minutes before an entrance, we work with it.
If speeches move, I adjust.
If you decide on the night that you want to change something, we talk about it and make it work.
You should never feel like you are managing me.
That is probably one of the biggest things I want couples to feel when they book me.
You can hand that part over.
MC services
I can also be your MC if you would like everything to flow through one person.
My style is warm, natural and confident.
I am not interested in turning your reception into a performance or making myself the centre of attention.
It is your wedding, not mine.
I will welcome your guests, make announcements, introduce speeches and formalities, work with your venue and keep everyone clear on what is happening next.
I know when the room needs some direction and when it does not.
For many couples, having their DJ and MC together also makes things easier because the music, announcements and timing all connect naturally.
Then we dance
This is still one of my favourite parts.
The speeches are done.
The formalities are finished.
Everyone relaxes.
And suddenly the whole room changes.
That is when I start watching the dance floor closely.
Who is singing every word?
Who has just dragged their friends up to dance?
What generation is responding?
Do we keep building here or take it somewhere completely different?
Sometimes one unexpected song changes everything.
Sometimes the entire room wants a huge singalong.
Sometimes it is a run of great dance tracks.
There is no exact formula and I would not want there to be.
That is where experience and instinct come in.
After more than 25 years, I still get a buzz from finding that song that makes everyone turn towards the dance floor.
I still love seeing generations dancing together.
And I still love that moment when a couple looks around and realises pretty much everyone they love is in the same place, having a great time.
That is what I am there for.
Wedding services
I offer wedding DJ services, MC services and combined DJ and MC packages.
Your package can include professional sound, microphones, lighting, music planning, setup and pack down, depending on what your venue and celebration need.
I also offer Story & Moments Photo Booth, either on its own or combined with your DJ package.
For couples who want fewer suppliers to coordinate, the DJ and Photo Booth combination can make things much easier while giving guests another way to have fun throughout the night.
What you can expect from me
Someone who listens.
Someone who genuinely cares about how your wedding feels.
Someone who understands music, people and events.
Someone who can be calm and quietly in the background when that is what the moment needs, and full of energy when it is time to celebrate.
I do not want your wedding to feel like every other wedding.
I want it to feel like you.
Your music.
Your people.
Your moments.
And hopefully one very full dance floor by the end of it.
