OVERVIEW
We’ve all been to that wedding: the DJ is either hiding behind a low-effort playlist, shouting over every song like it’s a stadium tour, or trying to steal the spotlight. Worse, some ruin your venue's aesthetic with a mess of tangled cables and tacky, flashing laser dots.
At NOVA DJs, I do things differently.
Honestly, you probably don’t need to read a long-winded "about me" to know if I’m the right fit.
The best way to see the energy I bring is to watch it in action.

Still here? If you want to know a bit more about how I work, here is the breakdown:
Why Adelaide Couples Choose to Work With DJ NOVI:
1) You Get Me, Not a "Lucky Dip": Big agencies often operate like a roulette wheel; you see a great promo video, but have no idea who will actually show up on your wedding day. When you book with me, you’re booking me. I am your direct point of contact from our first chat to the final song, ensuring the person you trust with your vision is the exact person behind the decks.
2) Your Taste, My Expertise: I don’t walk in with a pre-set, cookie-cutter playlist. I start by listening to your preferences.
On the night, I use those as my compass, reading the room in real-time to drop the right track at the right second.
3) The "Lit" Dance Floor Balance: My superpower is finding the perfect mix of nostalgic anthems everyone knows by heart and the modern remixes that keep the energy fresh. It’s about making sure YOU, your friends, your parents, and your favourite aunt are all having the time of their lives on the same floor.
4) Aesthetics Matter: You’ve spent months perfecting the look of your venue. My setup is intentionally sleek and "super clean", no cable spaghetti, no bulky eyesores, just concert-grade sound and professional lighting that enhances the mood rather than distracting from it.
5) Music You Can Actually Talk Over: There’s nothing worse than having to shout over dinner. I prioritise crystal-clear, rich sound that allows for easy conversation when guests are catching up, and deep, immersive energy when it’s time to dance.
6) Unshakeable Reliability: With over 300 weddings delivered, I have never once missed an event. However, being a professional means I value your peace of mind above all else. I carry industry-standard backup gear on-site, and I maintain a network of trusted, like-minded professionals in Adelaide, so you are always 100% covered, no matter what happens.
7) Experience You Can Trust
With hundreds of weddings across Adelaide, from the rolling hills of the Barossa and McLaren Vale to the city’s most iconic venues, I’ve mastered the art of the "perfect flow."
I’m not there to feed my own ego or spend the night hogging the microphone.
I’m there to ensure that when you look back, you remember the joy, the laughter, and the best party you’ve ever been to.
The Investment
My packages typically sit around the $2K mark, covering premium gear, expert mixing, and the total peace of mind that comes with knowing your soundtrack is in professional hands.

About
My goal as a DJ has always been simple: to create a space where you and your guests can truly let go and enjoy the moment. Over the last 300+ weddings, I’ve learned that the best memories don't come from cheesy gimmicks or loud interruptions, but from a soundtrack that perfectly mirrors your personality. I’m deeply committed to a personal, ego-free approach, ensuring your day flows exactly as you imagined, from the first song at dinner to the last dance of the night.

Saturday dates in peak wedding season (October–April) tend to book out 12–18 months ahead. If you have a date in mind, I'd recommend reaching out as soon as possible — even just for a quick chat to check availability. Mid-week and off-peak dates are generally more flexible.
All packages include professional sound system, wireless microphone, LED dancefloor lighting, and full setup and packdown. My Signature Experience package also includes the iconic 16" disco ball, optional haze/geyser effects, upgraded computerised lighting, and room-transforming uplighting. I'll walk you through exactly what suits your venue and guest count on our intro call.
I love taking requests, it's one of the best ways to read what the crowd is feeling. That said, I use my experience to judge when to drop a request for maximum impact, rather than just playing them in order. Before the wedding, we'll also go through your must-plays and must-not-plays together, so I have a clear picture of your taste before I even arrive.
Absolutely. I regularly DJ weddings across the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills, and beyond. There are no travel fees for locations within 60 minutes of the CBD. For venues further out, a travel fee of approximately $50 per hour of travel applies, always quoted upfront with no surprises.
The easiest way to get started is to book a free 20-minute intro call at calendly.com/novadjs/20-min-chat. It's zero pressure, just a chance to say hi, make sure we're a good fit, and talk through what you want the night to feel like. From there, a deposit secures your date.
This is genuinely one of my favourite challenges. The secret is layering. I'll open the dancefloor with the anthems that get the 50+ crowd singing, then weave in the modern remixes and current hits as the night builds. By the time the floor is packed, everyone from grandparents to uni friends is dancing together. I've done this across 300+ weddings and it never gets old watching it happen.
I typically allow 60-90 minutes for setup, depending on the package and venue. Everything will be ready, tested, and looking sharp well before your guests arrive. The last thing I want is to be fiddling with cables when your bridal party is walking in.
Absolutely, and I insist on it. Every booking includes a planning call where we go through your full run sheet, music preferences, must-plays, must-not-plays, special moments like the first dance and cake cutting, and anything else that matters to you. I want to know your wedding inside out before I arrive.
It depends on the quality of what's installed. Many venues have background music speakers that aren't suited to a live reception with dancing. I'm always happy to assess this with you in advance, if the venue's system is genuinely up to standard, we can discuss options. But in most cases, bringing my own concert-grade gear ensures the sound is exactly right for every part of the night.
Yes, my All-Day Package covers both ceremony and reception, including setup across two locations for up to 8 hours. This includes your processional, signing music, recessional, and the full reception through to the last dance. Having one supplier handle both keeps the transition seamless and means you're not coordinating two separate providers on the day.
Dinner is one of the most underrated parts of the night musically. I play carefully curated background music at a volume that lets guests actually have conversations, warm, feel-good tracks that set the mood without demanding attention. Then as dinner winds up and the dancefloor opens, I build the energy deliberately so the transition feels natural rather than jarring.
With an agency, you book based on a showreel and often don't know which DJ will show up until close to the date. When you book with me, you get me — DJ Novi — from the first conversation to the final song. I'm your point of contact throughout the whole process, and I'm the one behind the decks on your wedding night. No surprises, no substitutions.
Yes on both counts. I carry full public liability insurance and bring backup equipment to every event: spare cables, backup audio sources, and redundancy built into my setup. In a live event environment, having a plan B isn't optional. It's just professionalism.
One hundred percent. Not every couple wants a pumping dancefloor from 7pm, and that's perfectly fine. If you'd prefer a more relaxed, lounge-style reception with great music in the background and only a small window for dancing later in the night, I can absolutely shape the evening around that. The goal is always for you to feel comfortable and have the best night, whatever that looks like for you.
In over 300 weddings, I've never missed an event, and I intend to keep it that way. That said, being a professional means planning for every scenario. I maintain a trusted network of like-minded, vetted DJs in Adelaide who understand my standards, so if the absolute worst were to happen, you would be covered by someone I personally vouch for. You'll never be left without a DJ.

Get Expert AdviceHow much are travel fees for wedding bands/djs?
G'day. We're currently tossing up between a city wedding and a destination wedding in the country. Wondering how much wedding bands/djs charge to travel (and if they even want to?) How far are they willing to travel for a wedding? Thanks!
NOVA DJs
At NOVA DJs, we understand the importance of convenience and affordability for our clients. That's why we have a policy of not charging any travel fees for locations that are within 60 minutes of the CBD.
However, for locations that are further than 60 minutes from the CBD, we may charge a travel fee of approximately $50 per hour of travel. This fee helps cover the costs associated with travelling to and from the event location.
We aim to provide the best possible DJ services while keeping our prices reasonable and transparent, so you can focus on enjoying your event without worrying about hidden costs.
Do DJ's provide a sound system to use?
NOVA DJs
Hello!
Well, at NOVA DJs we have many options you can choose from... if you prefer to hire a package with all included (speakers, lights, smoke, etc) or just the DJ (in case your venue has the equipment).
In case the venue has the sound system, is important to check if the equipment is good enough for your event. Many places have speakers for background music, but not for dance.
