OVERVIEW
Hey, I'm Josh
I'm a Canberra musician, originally from the east coast of Canada, the Maritimes, where music was just part of life. Less a performance, more everyone gathered around a table, playing and singing late into the night. That's the feeling I bring to a wedding: warm, easy, and genuinely present, rather than a set list being worked through. I play live acoustic music across the whole day — ceremony, canapés, reception — and I can MC too, if you'd rather not juggle an extra vendor.
I'm not trying to be a one-man party band. What I do is honest: good songs played well, by someone who reads the room and adapts as the day goes. There's a bit of east-coast folk in it, the salt-air, around-the-table tradition I grew up on, alongside pop, a bit of alternative, some Irish traditional. Anything from The Dubliners to Death Cab for Cutie. The full song list is there on request, and there's always room to make it yours. If there's a song that matters to you both, I'll learn it and arrange it in my own style.
How the day usually runs
For the ceremony, that might be a stripped-back fingerstyle version of a song that means something to you both, played live as you walk in. Through canapés and photos, a relaxed set keeps things warm while you're off with the photographer. Then as the reception builds, the energy lifts, with upbeat acoustic favourites that get a few people up and keep the evening moving, without pretending to be a thumping dancefloor it isn't meant to be. I'll talk it all through with you beforehand: the running order, the key moments, the songs that matter, and coordinate with your celebrant and venue so the music just slots in.
Music and MC, one person
If you'd like it, I can handle both the music and the running of the day: welcoming guests, your entrance, speeches, cuing the moments that matter, all through the same PA. Because it's one person at one setup, there are no clunky handovers. The announcements come straight out of the live set and back again. For the right wedding it makes the whole day simpler, and a bit more connected.
"From the moment Josh took the microphone he set the tone for our entire day. His natural humour had our guests laughing from start to finish… you could tell he was truly listening to every speech, weaving in little callbacks that tied everything together. Organised without being rigid, and seamless alongside our other vendors. If you're looking for an MC who'll make your wedding feel fun, personal and perfectly coordinated, look no further."
"I couldn't have asked for a better MC. Josh was professional, genuinely funny and kept the entire evening running seamlessly… he checked in with us throughout the night, which gave us great peace of mind. Highly recommend!"
The gear
I play a Maton Nashville through a Bose L1 system: clean, professional sound whether it's an intimate garden or a livelier room. The PA covers speeches and toasts too, so everyone hears the important bits. Reliable kit, properly run. Not something you'll have to think about on the day.

So I'm new here, and looking after my first 10 couples
I'm just starting out on Easy Weddings and building up my reviews, so I want to make it easy for the first couples who take a chance on me.

All I ask in return is an honest review afterwards. That's the thing that helps me most while I get established, and if I've done my job, it's an easy one to write.
About
I'm Josh, a Canberra musician, husband and dad, originally from the east coast of Canada. Music was just part of life growing up, the thing that turned up at every moment that mattered. That's stuck with me, and it's really why I play weddings: there's nowhere the right song lands harder than the walk down the aisle, the first dance, the quiet bits in between. I started Joshua Daniel Music to bring a bit of that feeling to other people's big days.
