From the makeup trial to to the wedding day, Karen will make sure you look and feel your best. A skin consult and makeup tips are included in the bridal trial to ensure your skin is glowing even before we apply any makeup. Only high quality products are used to design your makeup look including MAC, Hourglass, NARS, Laura Mercier and Becca. Airbrushed makeup can be provided upon request using Temptu foundation.
All brides are encouraged to have a makeup trial and bring pictures of their desired bridal look. The makeup trial is designed to plan the bridal makeup ahead of time so you are relaxed and know what to expect on the wedding day. Rates are flexible based on size of bridal party.

Is it better to book one specific make up artist, or a makeup artistry company with multiple artists

I am a freelance makeup artist and have worked in a team as well as independently - I believe a solo makeup artist is more attentive and will cater to your needs more fully than a team. One specific makeup artist means you know who you will be getting on the day and the exact makeup look you want. Often in teams they will shuffle around the artists so you don't know who you are going to get. Every MUA has their own style and price so pick the one that is right for you and someone you are comfortable with. In general, the more experienced makeup artists are slightly more expensive but well worth it as they are used to last minute changes, fixing problem skin and adding in one more face if needed. In addition, experienced MUAs who do not do hair will definitely be able to recommend the best hair stylist for you instead of being restricted to picking someone from their own team. For very large bookings most Makeup artists have other freelance artists they can turn for assistance so no worries there. Hope this helps.
How much should hair and makeup usually cost?
Is it more cost effective to pay for one person to do both? :) I am happy to pay for quality.

Experienced makeup artists charge around $100 per person and depending on the intricacy of the hairstyle I believe it is about $100 - $125 for hair. It is not always ideal to have someone do both because then that person has to rush to complete everything in time or make everyone get up extra early. Having a hair stylist and a separate MUA means they can each work on one person and then swap until all bridesmaids and bride are done. In addition, the really great MUAs and Hair stylists often focus on one area and don't do both.

I would suggest a mattifying primer such as hourglass veil or a pore minimizer from Dr Brandt to ensure your skin stays fairly smooth and matte. Then use a foundation that is not overly oily and translucent setting powder that will absorb excess sweat and oil. Finally setting spray and extra powder to tough up during the day. Excessive sweating can sometimes not be entirely prevented but having the right makeup to touch up can make akk the difference.
