Flowers to avoid for allergies

This is weird but I suffer from allergies - are there any flowers I need to avoid in my bouquet? Do cut flowers still make you allergic? Thanks.

I would personally avoid all fresh flowers and opt for artificial instead. We have access to an amazing range of really high quality options which look so real you would hardly know they weren't and there are lots of other perks of not having fresh flowers, so it's certainly a good option to look into.

Would love to discuss further if you still have need.

Most of the pollens that cause allergies comes from flowers and greenery. To be on the safe side can always look into silk flowers which look as beautiful as fresh flowers.

There are many fresh flowers to avoid if you have allergies, using greenery, succulents etc and dried flowers is a good idea but please avoid using any preserved flowers are they are highly toxic and extremley bad for the environment.

There are also a lot of fresh flowers that generally dont cause allergies, a great wedding florist will be able to help guide you into what works best for you for your day.

And, yes to an antihistamine on the day - just to be sure!

Hello, In my experience allergies vary enormously. Most often, however, it is the strongly scented flowers that cause reactions.

This includes lilies,hyacinth,jasmine & tuberose,

Also, flowers covered in pollen such as Australian wildflowers including kangaroo paw and flannel flower.

I have found unscented roses, tulips, ranuncula, phalaenopsis and other unscented orchids to all be safe for my many bridal couples.

I do advise taking a Claratyne (antihistamine tablet) on the day just to be sure.

Best wishes for a happy wedding, Susan

Best to avoid any flowers with high pollen, like chrysanthemums, freesias, sunflowers, lillies. Cut flower can still cause a reaction as the pollen is still on the flower. Hope this helps!

It honestly depends how bad your allergies are, but as it's your wedding day and don't want to risk it I would avoid all flowers ??

I have recently created 'florals' for a wedding where the bride is allergic to all flowers so we created them using succulents and greenery! Feel free to send me an email and I'll send you the photos!

Another option is to use dried/preserved flowers as they shouldn't affect your allergies as they have no pollen.
