All year round we use fresh flowers like Roses, Orchids, Oriental Lilies, Asiatic Lilies, Iris, Gerberas, Carnation, Chrysanthemums, variety of Succulents and seasonal fresh native Australian flowers and good selection of fresh foliage.

We also special order the artificially coloured Rainbow Rose, one of the most popular sold flowers.

We can combine fresh flowers, fruit, vine, balloons, chocolates, soft toys, teddies and gourmet hampers, designed into gift boxes, ceramic containers, baskets, bouquets and terrariums.

Fatima started floristry in 2003 in Sydney and won First Price in 2003 Sydney Royal Easter Show competition as a student of Padstow College, Sydney NSW. In 15 years have experienced working with wonderful people in the industry and establishing great relationships with clients, flower suppliers and other industry professionals in NSW and VIC. Weddings and arranging flowers for happy couples have been most rewarding part of the career and is the reason for starting the profession.

How much budget to allocate to flowers for the reception?

Im just wondering what the average cost is? We will be holding 2 receptions in different countries so trying to be budget conscious but also don't want to be tight! price per table plus a centre piece? simple/rustic style.

Dear Amy

I would recomend discussion with your florist in detail with the reception plan in your hands with all drawn up flower requirements and measurements of the tables etc for good time management and officient business (that may save you some money and time).

Provide photos of the reception (but florist may want to visit the location it self to asses ease or difficulty if she/he has not worked at that particular reception it self) or decoration you wish to use, any vases you wish to utilise bring on the apointment with you. It will all help with the costing to be spot on.

So with all that said $$$ will depend on you and florist coming up together with what can be done for you with your budget in mind and you getting the best possible design.

Reception you booked can give you guide as what they charge for flowers if they have florist that they usualy recomend.

Is a large bouquet and a flowercrown too much?

I think it would be very romantic look.

I had flowers in my hair as opposed to jewelrey crown or any other head covering.

You are the bride and anything you wish on your wedding day should be done in a way that you are comfortable and represents your feelings/desires for that day, after all it is one day in a couples lives and cant be redone anytime soon. So I would say do it if you want that feel and look.

Can florists typically provide petals as well? :)

We at Dosen's Flowers have provided rose petals to our brieds when orthered with the wedding flowers so that their guests can throw them on the the couple when coming out of the church as oposed to grains etc. Bride provided paper cones in the colour theme of the wedding and we filled them in at the time of preparing all the other wedding bouquets and flowers..
