what happens if a store only carries up to size 16 but im an 18?

It will totally depend on the style of gown you are going for and the designer's size guide. Sizing in bridal does vary quite a bit, and it's common for brides to get a different size gown to what they normally wear. It is also common for stores to carry a dress double out the back in a larger size than the sample (normally a 16 or 18).

Bridal consultants will clip and pin you into gowns and good bridal consultant will be able to give you an idea of how the gown will fit.

The simplest way to deal with this dilemma is to find a designer that will make a gown for you without worring what size you are. I create each gown for each bride just how she wants it and no size labels.

If you are purchasing from the retail store you will have to settle for something that will fit you or can be altered. When it comes to a wedding gown, true custom made with all the fittings is the best. I do last fitting very close to the day to asure a perfect fit and no alterations necesary.

Hi Some stores do carry a large size range. Store suppliers often don't have certain sizes in certain styles .as a stock service to their retailers  Plus sizes are also more expensive to buy in as well.  If the store only has a size 16 the store can order your size in.

This can be very frustrating for brides as everyone loves to see a gown fitting well before making the commitment to purchase. I would suggest calling ahead and making sure every store you plan to visit has gowns in your size range so you can enjoy your day shopping rather than being frustrated. If the gowns are a size or 2 too big or small you can usually be pinned in or have a panel pinned into the back so you can get a feel for how it would look when perfectly fitted.
