Wedding dresses: where to start?

I'm the first of my friends (and family!) to marry so I have no idea what I'm doing! I've been looking at websites but they seem to flaunt a particular body shape, newest trends (NO interest there), and no prices. How am I supposed to figure out which stores i should actually make appointments with? I should mention, I hate shopping and would rather not go to more than 1 or 2 stores (or spend more than a couple of hours doing this), and do NOT want to spend a fortune

Hi Amanda,
The best way to start is to go to one or two stores that appeal to you and I am not talking just about their fashions. Do a bit of research first, look at their website, Facebook Page and read the reviews. Then look at how you feel about what you see. Always book an appointment, that way you are priority client and you should get the best attention. Look for places that offer custom service which includes progress fittings so you have control over how your dream gown is progressing. Make sure you have your ceremony and reception sorted first as this will narrow down the styles in choosing that perfect look and your designer will have a point of reference where to start with some great ideas for you. Good luck and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

All the best,

Hi Amanda,

I suggest that you organise a list of Australian couture designers and log on to their instragram page.

Most designers post photo's of their real brides on their wedding day so you get to see mood, and image of how the gown will look like

on the wedding day. In this way you will get an understanding of the gown design you would visage yourself to wear on your speacial day.

It may be best for you to go start to a designer and have the gown created for you, instead of going to many stores and getting

all confused. At Zhanel Couture we can create to your planned budget .

Please check out our instragram page we have many brides that we have created beautiful gowns for from Brisbane.

Angela.

Hi Amanda

As a designer helping lots of brides to get what they love to wear on dream day ,I would suggest first find out where would you like to get married?

what kind of wedding such as Garden wedding ,beach wedding or church wedding having ?

Second how much budget is for your wedding dress?

Thirdly, find out what kind of style suites your shape? according to your shape choose your fabric and style then book some shops which carrying dresses as similar budgets as you have in your mind ,if you don’t find any thing suited you ,just book a designer to design you a beautiful gown which will bring out your personality and shape in your budget as you wish ,as long as having realistic budget ))) Remember after ordering off the rack gowns you will need alterations might blow out your budget any way!

Good luck and try start sooner than later

If you have seen pictures of styles you like but don't worry if they aren't the style you end up with. Then walk into a couple of stores and get a vibe or ask work colleagues of where to go. have a little bit of fun when trying on. Wish you all the best as you plan your wedding. If you were in Victoria I would suggest popping in to see us. If you are near brisband you could give the ladies at Nicolina a call.
