Good afternoon and Happy New Year!

There are a number of things to consider with accessories, including the theme /style of your wedding; how formal / casual it will be; have you decided on your jewellery yet and whether or not you intend to change out of your wedding dress into a reception dress. Also are you going for minimalist or full on OTT luxury?

A veil tends to be a more traditional look but goes just as beautifully, especially a long veil, with a more contemporary short dress.  This particular look is also a stunning sophisticated minimalist look that still has the feel of luxury because of the length of the veil especially if paired with simple but bold statement earrings.

As previously noted, you can wear both a veil and a headpiece or hairpins even if you wanted to. For example if you had a bun, you could tuck the veil in under your bun and put a comb with florals on the front of your bun or hairpins all through it. This would work very well with a dress that is all floral lace and / or beaded or embroidered.

Also keep in mind whether or not you have always wanted to wear a veil or whether you just "feel you should". The most important thing is that you look back on your day and feel that you did what you wanted not what others expect of you, unless meeting others expectations will actually make you happy.

The best thing to do is start from your dress and then speak to your accessories designer who should be happy to go through all of these things with you and may be able to customise your accessories to suit your personal needs. ps happy to discuss further, just message me! ??

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Accessorising is such a fun part of the journey, and getting it just right can truly elevate your bridal look.

Start by wearing your dress, or having a pic in it, and add both - wear them IRL, or add them in photoshop - then look at them both, side by side. If you still can't decide; flip a coin... disappointed? Then the other one was always the right move.

Here are a few key things to avoid in general:

  • Less is More – Avoid overloading on accessories; you want them to complement your dress, not compete with it. If you have a detailed gown, opt for subtle, elegant pieces. If your dress is minimalist, a statement piece can work beautifully.
  • Too Many Layers – Stick to one bracelet, a necklace (only if it complements your neckline), and earrings that match your dress’s style. Mixing too many pieces can look cluttered.
  • Competing Headpieces – Choose one: veil, tiara, or decorative hairpins - picking too many can create a mismatched effect. Select the one that best suits your dress and wedding theme.
  • Clashing Colours & Metals – Ensure your accessories harmonise with your gown and bridal party. A single pop of colour (e.g., shoes or a statement jewellery piece) works well, but too many competing tones can be distracting. Sticking to one metal (gold, silver, rose gold) keeps things cohesive.
  • Forgetting to Tie It Together – Consider small details that subtly match your groom’s look, bridesmaids' dresses, or wedding theme for a polished and intentional aesthetic.

Above all, wear what makes you feel confident and beautiful! Accessories should enhance you and your dress, not overpower them.

Happy styling!!

Why not do both? ?? consult with you hairdresser to see if they can place your hair piece and veil so all youu need for your night xhamge look is to remove tbe veil.
