During my trip to Melbourne, my partner proposed to me and we are planning to get married in Australia. However, he is holding a student visa while I'm traveling on a tourist visa. Please advice, thanks :)

HI , your visa status is of no concern to the wedding celebrant, Be aware that being married is not an automatic right to another type of visa.
Anyone can be married in Australia as long as they are able to prove their identity and place of birth (Passport). Once the Notice of Intended Marriage is completed and lodged with the celebrant that will marry you one month before the wedding, you will be able to get married in Australia.

How wonderful, congratulations, YES you can get married in Australia. You need at least one month's notice and the legal documents required to complete the NOIM (notice of intended marriage form) thats my job to help you sort out.
There's no problem getting married in Australia while you both have visas, just as long as you have at least one month left on them. This is because you have to give your celebrant a 'Notice of Intended Marriage' form at least one month before the wedding date. I hope this helps you.

Authorized Civil Celebrants may marry anyone, anywhee, anytime and yes even if your on a Tourist Visa.
Yes there is no reason you cannot get married as long as the celebrant receives the Notice Of Intended Marriage a clear month before your date of ceremony. Jeff Munn

As others have said. Not an issue at all. I perform many such ceremonies. Some at various parks, venues etc and quite a few in my home. Good luck with all and congratulations. If you want to know more just ask. The advice is free and accurate. Cheers, Ron www.yourcelebrant.com.au
Yes you can marry in Australia. You need to ensure that you have all the correct documentation to do so along with a valid passport. Are you both over 18? I suggest firt that you contact a local Marriage celebrant to discuss your ideas and investigate further into what paper work is required. Do you both speak english? There is absolutely no problem with you being married in Australia. As long as you have given the required one month's waiting notice and waiting period then you are fine to be married. Your celebrant will help you with the required legal work, but remember, without the one months waiting period, which commences when the celebrant gets your Notice of Intended Marriage form, you will not be married.
