In Australia, a bride is not legally required to change her surname when getting married. It’s entirely a personal choice. When you marry, you can keep your current surname, take your spouse’s surname, or even create a new combined surname if you both agree.
The marriage certificate itself doesn’t automatically change your name—it just records the details of the marriage.
If you do decide to change your surname, you’ll need to update it with various institutions like the Australian Taxation Office, banks, and for your driver’s licence or passport. For official documents such as a passport, you can use your marriage certificate as evidence of the name change, but you’ll still need to apply for the update.
It’s all up to what feels right for you! :)
My daughter is being married in 12 months time . Am I able to become competent in that time to perform her wedding?

It can be completed, and you can become competent with in this time... The course does take time to complete and then completing the government registration can take time also so I would do some research in this area first. If you can complete the course and gain registration within the 12 months, then in that time I would contact some experienced celebrants to gain further "performing ceremonies" advice and techniques etc. I hope this helps :)
What time should my ceremony be?
We're making a ceremony local due to a close family member that can't go far. Our reception venue is 1 hr away, We'll need to arrive around 6:30-7pm at reception. We have a wedding photoshoot prior to the reception venue, this will be about 2 hrs.

I would recommend 2.30pm - 3pm start - guest to arrive 20 to 30 mins prior to ceremony commencing and all guests to be seated and welcomed 10-15 minutes prior to the ceremony. I hope you have a wonderful wedding :)
