My fee for most Adelaide weddings is $799.
This includes your planning meeting, personalised ceremony structure, legal paperwork prepared and lodged, rehearsal meeting, and ceremony delivery at your chosen Adelaide location.
Travel surcharge applies for locations more than 30 minutes from Adelaide CBD. Long weekends and dates from 24 December to 7 January may incur seasonal pricing.
I usually arrive around 25 minutes before the ceremony, so there is time to check in, settle everything and make sure we are ready to begin smoothly.
Yes. I have a clear, confident voice and I’m very experienced at making sure ceremonies are easy for guests to hear and follow.
For smaller ceremonies, a PA system is often not necessary. However, I do have a quality PA system available for weddings where it is helpful — especially larger ceremonies, outdoor weddings, windy locations, or situations where music and microphone support would improve the experience.
We can discuss what is needed for your ceremony when we plan the details.
Many couples arrange their own music using a phone, tablet, speaker, venue sound system, DJ or musician.
I also have a quality PA system available for suitable weddings and can assist with bride’s arrival music, and/or end-of-ceremony music, where arranged in advance.
We’ll discuss the simplest and most reliable option for your ceremony.
Yes. We’ll initially have a planning meeting and, closer to the day, a rehearsal meeting so you feel comfortable and know exactly what will happen.
We can certainly get together again for a brief practice, a few days before your wedding.
However, after our first meeting, you’ll see just how surprisingly easy it all is. As a result, most couples tell me, at that point, that doing a rehearsal “on-site” simply isn’t needed.
If your ceremony has unusual logistics or specific venue requirements, I’ll guide you on the simplest way to handle it.
Yes. I provide a ceremony structure, sample vows and wording options to make the process easy. You can keep things simple, choose from the examples, or add your own personal touches if you wish.
Yes. I prepare and lodge the legal marriage paperwork. You simply need to provide the required identification and any documents relating to your marital status, if applicable.
On your wedding day, I’ll present you with your “Official Marriage Certificate”, which confirms that you are legally married.
After the wedding, I lodge your marriage paperwork with Births, Deaths and Marriages.
As soon as you are married, you can apply to BDM for an additional “Registered Marriage Certificate”. This is the certificate usually required for things such as immigration, motor registration and some other official purposes.
Since most couples need that additional certificate, I’ll email you a link after your wedding so you can easily apply for it.

Get Expert AdviceCatholic wedding celebrant in Gold Coast
My fiancé and I are planning to get married in Gold Coast and are looking for a celebrant who can incorporate our Catholic faith into the ceremony. While we understand that celebrants are unable to perform a full religious ceremony, we would love for the celebrant to profess the Catholic faith and include some scripture readings during the ceremony, as this is very important to us. If you know of anyone who could provide this type of service, we would greatly appreciate your recommendation. Thank you, Paula

Dear Paula,
You can find a list of Religious Marriage Celebrants here: https://marriage.ag.gov.au/commonwealthcelebrants/religious . I don't know if any of these are necessarily Catholic but quite likely some are. You'd probably have to phone a few and ask them.
On the other hand - If it is not as important for the celebrant to "Profess the Catholic Faith" but you'd simply like some scripture readings during the ceremony (whether read by the Celebrant or even, perhaps by one or two of your guests); then I would say many "non-religious" celebrants would still be perfectly happy to accommodate this for you.
For instance, I know my company, Simple Weddings, would be happy to do that. So if that might be suitable, you could see all of our options at www.simpleweddings.com.au and either book online or call us to book your wedding.
I hope this is helpful, regards Chris
Non-religious Celebrant in a Chapel
Hi, My Fiancé and I have booked in through the Cooma Parish to use the Thredbo Chapel for our big day (and paid in advance). If we have declined using the catholic priest can we use a non-denominational Civil celebrant, or are we required to use a religious celebrant?
Christopher Steele
The short answer: In your particular instance you really need to ask the Cooma Parish. After all, the Thredbo Chapel is their place.
A bit more info:
As for non-religious celebrants conducting weddings in Chapels or Churches, each situation is different. There are some chapels which are not really associated with churches but available for hire and you wouldn't need permission to marry without their own religious minister. In other situations you are pretty much bound to use their own minister but you'd have to check in each case.
I hope this is helpful regards Chris
Can we get married in two weeks time?
We are heading on holiday and would love to be married in two weeks. What are our options?

The law of Australia requires that a couple sign a legal notice form, called "Notice of Intended Marriage" at least one calendar month prior to marrying in Australia. There is a provision of law which allows you to apply for a "shortening" of this legally required notice period, however it's not often granted. Here are the conditions under which it might be considered by the government:
1 Employment-related or other travel commitments
(1) The marriage should be solemnised despite the required notice not having been received in time because a party to the marriage or someone involved with the proposed wedding:
(a) has employment commitments that require the party's absence from the location of the proposed wedding for a considerable period of time; or
(b) has other travel commitments.
Example 1: A party to the marriage has accepted an offer of employment for imminent transfer or posting overseas or to a part of Australia distant from the location of the proposed wedding for at least 3 months, and wishes to be married with the party's family and friends present before the departure.
Example 2: A party to the marriage realises that a close relative or friend of the party is in Australia but the relative or friend has a non-redeemable ticket for departure from Australia within less than a month, and the party wishes the relative or friend to be present at the wedding.
(2) In determining whether a circumstance in subclause (1) is met, the prescribed authority may take into account the following:
(a) documents relating to the employment commitments of a party to the marriage such as a letter of offer and a letter of acceptance;
(b) documents relating to the travel of a person such as a dated receipt or a ticket;
(c) any explanation provided for not giving the notice sooner;
(d) any explanation provided for not postponing the proposed wedding;
(e) whether hardship would be caused to a party to the marriage if the marriage is not solemnised as proposed;
(f) any other matter that the prescribed authority considers relevant.
If you feel that you'd like to apply for a "shortening", (knowing that it might not be granted), I'm happy to help further. Please call me on 0402 340 651 or email to chris@christophersteele.com.au
