FAQ

The best way to choose a Celebrant is to have a coffee with him. If you want to have humour in the ceremony, think how often you laughed over the coffee.  If you want romance in the ceremony, how often did you feel warm or even teary about the way he expressed some things?

Find out if I am available on your wedding day, and if so, we can chat about what you want, and I can offer.

For those couples I work with, expect laughter and tears, applause and cheers.  And people all night long telling you how great your ceremony was.

Blair’s style is to include the romance of your relationship and sprinkling in humour that puts smiles on everyone’s face.  He has a warm presence which your guests will enjoy.

He genuinely enjoys the meeting, writing and presenting of your ceremony.  Your experience will be fun and satisfying and your ceremony relaxed and easy for you.

While he has experience from a great many ceremonies, he is always happy to include new ideas and concepts.

His ceremonies tell your story, and are not a rehash of the last 20 weddings another celebrant has done.

Most of my weddings are in Perth and its surrounds.  However, I service anywhere in Western Australia, and have done so from Broome to Margaret River.  Of course, a wedding always requires a run through to ensure everything goes smoothly on the day.  Things like where the couple stand, holding hands, posy flowers, trains on dresses, where is the sun shining, where will congratulations be, where is the signing table, who holds the rings and arrangements for music need to be clear before the wedding.  Because of this, for venues well out of Perth, I normally travel the day before to coordinate the rehearsal.

I always invite couples to share a tea or a coffee before they decide whether or not to book me.  I suggest that if they want humour in the ceremony, to consider how often they laughed over coffee.  If they want romance in their ceremony, to consider if what warm feelings they have, as we talk.  It is a great way to get a feel for a celebrant.  And if it doesn’t work out, well it has only cost a coffee.

I am passionate about weddings, and I like to go through the things will be a part of the unique ceremony I will build for them.  I encourage clients to write their own vows, but I also help them with lots of examples and links to great websites.

My interactions start with a coffee, move to a meeting to discuss the content and format of your ceremony, completion of the five forms that need to be signed, and all of the book-keeping that needs to be done to ensure the wedding is properly lodged.

I work with other wedding professionals like photographers, videographers, and planners that you may have engaged, to ensure you get the best outcome possible.

I love weddings, and I decided to become a celebrant after seeing some ceremonies where I knew I could do a better job.  I knew I could add the extra spark to make the wedding special.  I love romance and laughter in ceremony, and I have brought in a formula to make every wedding I do memorable, moving and fun.

Being a celebrant is a great job.  Often couples find it hard to articulate what they want in their ceremony.  However, after a chat about some of the options available, things start to fall into place.  It is a great feeling as people relax and start to enjoy the process of producing their wedding ceremony.

I get to meet wonderful people in love, planning to spend their lives together in marriage.  I become privy to their story, and I convert that story into the centre of a unique ceremony.  And, after a lot of fun and a lot of work, I get to be a part of a fantastic wedding ceremony.  How good is that?

Blair made the whole process fun and easy. His communication in the lead-up to the wedding was fantastic and his delivery struck the perfect balance between 'fun' and formal. Thanks for being part of our big day.

Blair married us back in April 2023 and he was amazing from start to finish! The whole process was easy, comfortable and we felt like Blair was the right fit for us. Blair is a kind, funny and respectful person who really took the time to get to know us as a couple and write a ceremony for us that was very personal, meaningful with the right amount of humour and wit. Blair is very organised and our ceremony went off without any hiccops. He worked well with our other vendors and made sure that everything went perfectly for us. It was the best day. Our family loved him and everyone talked about the beautiful ceremony afterwards. Blair listened to our needs and made any changes that we thought was right for us. We can't thank you enough, Blair. We will remember it forever! Thanking you, Jasmine and Trent Bennier

Where do we start with Blair from the minute I sent an enquiry to our first catch up for coffee he had such a great energy and was so funny his personality was just the best. He went through so much detail with us and helped us with our run through and all the paperwork we would need to do. He was the first and only celebrant we saw and chose him straight away. And the way he presented himself at our wedding and to our friends and family was incredible. I reccomend Blair to everyone as he was just the best. And anyone that chooses Blair will definitely not regret it

Is there a traditional left and right side for the bride's family and groom's family?

Does the bride's side traditionally sit on the left or the right at the ceremony?

Blair Fraser Celebrant

Traditionally, the family (and friends) of the bride sits on the left of the aisle as you are walking toward the front.  However, in a Jewish wedding, the seating is reversed.  Some folk see a marriage as the bringing together of two families, not dividing them.  So perhaps these are traditions best left in the past.   Also, this is a bit tricky where friends of both the bride and the groom are invited.

Eloping without witnesses?

My partner and I are thinking of eloping but just with our children and no witnesses. Is this possible?

Blair Fraser Celebrant

Hi

Sometimes the pressure and costs of a wedding get overwhelming, and folk just want to get it over with.

If by eloping, you mean marrying without inviting all of your family and friends, of course you can.  The Wedding Registrar is a private and inexpensive way to get maried.  Alternatively, you could engage a celebrant to do your wedding in your home or at the local park, with no fuss.  You need two adults to witness the wedding, but your celebrant might be able to arrange that as well, if you want the wedding to be a secret until it is done.

Good luck to you.

What makes original wedding vows really stand out, in your opinion?

Blair Fraser Celebrant

The first question to ask is why am I saying a wedding vow?

A wedding vow is a promise to your partner.  You don't have to say anything other that the first legal sentence, so if you decide to, do so for a reason.

Good wedding vows say something meaningful.  For example,  "I will love you when times are good, and I will be there for you when times are tough." This is the kind of thing couples, and your family and friends, remember.

Good wedding vows don't say things for the sake of filling in space.
