Hi Mason you will find that the price of buying a new suit will be fairly close to hiring one might be a good idea if you asked around or if you know someone who has been married recently..
We are currently running wedding packages fairly often our prices sart from $299 or 2 for $500 check out our formal range on our website..

Mason,
State by State this will vary. Here in WA the discrepancy is quite dramatic. Some places charge as little as $170 for the jacket, trousers, shirt, tie including alterations and cleaning. Others charge up to $300 for this. I would agree with the other comments so far and tell you to budget $200-$250 per outfit. At the top end this would include a vest and shoes for your groomsmen. I would think if you spent over this amount for rental product you are paying too much.
For purchasing outfits your suggested budget is correct. $500-$1000 per outfit, again at the top end this should include shoes and a vest, possibly belts and cufflinks as well. Remember that you are buying for a group (possibly) and the larger your group the better the deal should be for you.
Hope this information helps, and remember to start looking for your deal 16 - 20 weeks before the wedding. This will alleviate any stress from the Bride, and possibly the groomsmen too.
Britton's Formal Wear - PERTH, WA
Hi Mason
I would suggest a budget of $200 - $250 for hire, as you will want to shop around to find the best quality. These prices should include shirts, vests and ties. Sometimes this option is preferred because it wraps all your costings for suits in one neat package.
Best wishes

Hi Mason,
Formal wear hire can start around $160 per person for your basic setup (suit). Sometimes you are able to purchase evening wear suits for as little as $299. What option you decide upon is up to you. Take into account whether the groom/groomsmen will wear the suits again (purchase normally a better option), or whether this will be a one off outfit (hire would be superior here).

Good Afternoon MAson,
The cost for formal hire will depend entirely as to the outfit selected but to give you an idea a Classic Shawl Lapel Tuxedo / Dinner suit inclusive of the Shirt, Tie and Cufflinks the hire charge would be $125 and then it moves up from there.
