We usually recoment buying the Groom's suit for the big day. Doing so provides the Groom with a signature piece that will always bring back a happy memory, as suits can be used again compared to a wedding dress.

With buying a off-the-rack suit theres the quick ready access that's a pro. Though with many suits off-the-rack they tend not to fit perfectly, that's something you don't want on your big day. So you've got to add on tailoring which can make purchasing a suit costly, usually about $100-$200 extra per suit. With hiring a suit for the day offers quick access to a garment, though being off-the-rack and hired you won't be able to tailor the garment for the big day.

We offer the best of both worlds with affordabe custom tailored suits. Our suits are handmade by master tailors with decades of experience. By buying a custom tailored suit you're able to customise the suit to any way you desire. This being different buttons, custom fabrics, special linings and best of all the perfect fit straight away. No Tailoring Needed.

With the pro's and con's of each option I'd highly recommend purchasing a custom tailored suit for your big day. The reason being we offer affordable pricing for a handmade custom suit that'll offer continious use for many events to come.

Hi

Some very importatnt key points to consider, we get asked this question a lot;

1. Some hire suits are better than very cheap purchase suits.

2. If you purchase, make sure ALL sizes are available before committing.

3. Consider tailoring costs as well as the purchase price when factoring you purchase requirements. Hire suits will have this included.

4. Budget, budget, budget. This is the most important aspect in your decision making. If budget is no object then purchasing is the way to go as you can dictate the quality and fit and colour irrespective of the cost.

....... and most importantly...

Once your budget is decided, shop around. Find the shop that gives you the attention you need as well as the expertise required to help you. If you can, find a shop that does both (hire and sales) because in most cases you will get an unbiased recomendation without the sales pitch and you will also be able to compare the two options against each other.

Best of luck :)

We always recommend buying as you will find if you do your research you should find that the prices for buying a new suit would be very close to hiring a suit and lets not forget when you hire a suit the choices are not normally great as this would be limited..

If you are after the new modern blue suit or a classic tailored black tuxedo we are running these out from $299/$399/$499 or just enquire about our Wedding packages which are highlighted on the easyweddings website .

Buy 3 suits or more and get 20% off your suits..

Pro's and Con's are varied depending on the weight and height (or basic proportions) of the gent.

When you buy (or make) a suit more alterations are available to be done, and some are usually included with the sale. The range of products available to purchase also tends to be significantly larger. For Example, we deal with 11 manufactuerers nationally and internationally and have access to a wide range of sale products. Opening up these options usually comes with a price tage attached and particularly having a suit made can push the cost over the $1000. A standard budget for purchasing off the rack or ready made would be between $500 - $900 depending on suit brand, quality of fabric etc.

When you hire a suit; the range, the fit and available options are limited by each store offering the ranges. Some alterations are excluded as they are permanent, and the business needs to reuse the garments. This is also another downside, the garments are reused, and depending on how old the suits are, the wear and tear can diminish the look of the garment. Rental's tend to be a third of the cost of a basic purchase suit. Anywhere between $150-$250 per outfit depending on accessory requirements.

When shopping for Hire or Sale items use your own personal factors as a guide. Will he wear it again? How formal is the suit? What is your budget? Be upfront with the business you are dealing with, a good business will find a product to meet your needs and will try and keep the cost down to your budget.

I would advise to buy. 100% of engaged couples have agreed  when I advised that 'the wedding dress is only for one day and the suit/formal wear is a lifetime investment. That being said, it is also best to get made-to-measure suits as they are exclusively made for the individual with little or no alterations. Every man needs a suit for that special occasion.

Hiring formal wear rings the 'HYGEINE' alarm bells. As mentioned by BJS these take limited alterations as per the length of sleeves and legs - nothing more. But why hire or get off-the-rack when you can purchase a made-to-measure in the style, colour and fabric of choice?

For the budget conscious, hiring would be the option. Made-to-measure warrants a price tag as the garment is usually hand-crafted with special care. Off-the-rack could be cheaper dependent on your taste (fashion brand). Off-the-rack could even be cheap as hire if you are able to get on 'SALE'.

However, if funds are of no concern, then it is best to get made-to-measure. Tailor On The Road has a great offer - Buy The Groom's Suit and get 20% OFF Groomsmen with a FREE Tailored Shirt. A Tailor will visit your groom and groomsmen at home, office or location of choice.

We usually recomend buying the Groom's outfit for the big day. Not only does it provide a momento that can be used again (as opposed to a wedding dress) in different social settings but you can also perform more alterations to a purchased product to make sure it fits the individual in the best possible way.

The con's with hire suits is that the reatailer can only do temporary alterations and with modern fashions being slimmer looking, these slimming adjsutments cannot be made as they are permament. The benefit of hiring is of course the lower costs involved and in the event the groom is an easy to fit shape you can acheive a great look without the need for these permant alterations. We usually see hiring for the groom when they have a good shape and are in a formal tuxedo and do not think they will have use for the suit again.

In saying that a tuxedo in the wardrobe is always a staple item for those formal events that do come about every now and then and for the most part if you get more than 2 uses out of the life of the purchase suit you are better off than continuing to hire.
