Following a romantic proposal beside a waterfall in Olinda, these high school sweethearts planned a classic yet modern celebration at The Riverstone Estate for 55 guests.
For their May 21, 2022 wedding, Jade and Joel had two non-negotiables: a perfectly-planned cocktail style reception and stunning views. Nestled in the heart of the Yarra Valley, The Riverstone Estate exceeded expectations on both fronts.
The night before their big celebration, Jade and Joel met with family and friends for a laidback welcome dinner at a local brewery, before retiring to their separate accomodation with their respective wedding parties. “We really loved doing this as a way to spend our last night before the wedding with family and friends,” explains Jade. “It helped make it feel like we had two nights of celebrations rather than just the wedding day and night.”
The sun rose on cloudless, still day for Jade and Joel’s garden ceremony. In keeping with the elegance of the venue, Joel dressed in a classic and impeccably tailored suit by InStitchu. Jade’s wedding gown was a custom design by d’Italia, featuring a sleek, modern bodice contrasted with a romantic train — plus a thigh high split in the skirt for the perfect amount of drama.
“The day flowed beautifully. It was so convenient and stress-free to have our ceremony and reception at the same venue,” says Jade. “We used both inside the venue and the deck all throughout the afternoon and evening.”
After taking a moment to capture golden hour photos on The Riverstone Estate‘s picturesque 75-acre property, Jade and Joel arrived at their reception to a warm welcome. Free-flowing wine, plentiful grazing stations, plus roaming entrees and handheld meals kept guests satiated. “Limoncello tiramisu, crème brûlée, Italian chocolate filled donuts… and those were just some of the desserts! There were so many options,” Jade reminisces. “The Riverstone Estate did a wonderful job. The food was so fresh and delicious.”
The evening flew by for the pair who expressed that the only thing they would want to change about their wedding would be to “make more time to stand back and take it all in.” Jade and Joel posed for gorgeous photographs as they sliced their pearl embellished wedding cake by Sweet Madness Cake Designs, then took to the deck beneath the festoon lights for their first dance.
As soon as we drove up the drive way of The Riverstone Estate, and saw the view, the farmhouse style venue, and the wrap around deck, we knew it was the one. We didn’t look anywhere else after that. Our guests raved about the views, endless amazing food, and endless wine. There was nothing we would have changed about our venue.

“We chose InStitchu for Joel’s classic and elegant wedding day suit.”
We knew we wanted white pocket squares and black ties. We loved the perfect fit and how sharp it looked!

“My dress was a custom design by d’Italia.”
I wanted exposed boning and a split in the skirt with very thin straps. The fabric was lovely and the bodice fitted so nicely.

“We wanted minimalist and simple with some pearls for our wedding cake.”
Our cake by Sweet Madness Cake Designs looked lovely, plus the flavours were delicious. We had two tiers: one plain vanilla and one raspberry and white chocolate.
