Laid-back couple Sheme and Luke like to think they’re pretty easy to please, so they didn’t let all the little details of wedding planning get them down.

“We walked in with the attitude that the little details aren’t what people remember, they remember the love and the atmosphere of the day,” Sheme says of their bohemian wedding.

The Perth pair chose The Rose and Crown in Guildford for their relaxed outdoor ceremony on March 10, 2018.

“We had our reception in the White Barn, which was perfect for an intimate celebration with family and friends,” Sheme says.

“We had beautiful native greenery featured throughout the venue, such as on the table settings and draped across the exposed beams of the barn which created an atmosphere of bringing the outside in and really accentuated the beautiful character of the space.”

The couple describes wedding planning as good preparation for marriage itself.

“We experienced the general ups and downs, surprises and stresses that come along with planning your big day, but you work together and compromise, after all that’s what marriage is all about,” Sheme says.

The couple’s classic rings were sourced from Michael Hill.

“We met the old fashioned way, at a club!” Sheme says. “We are both quite tall, we managed to spot each other over the other patrons and I asked to buy Luke a drink. The rest is history! He’s been stuck with me ever since.”

The couple were wed by experienced celebrant Lionel Yorke.
