Lisa and Josh’s heartfelt garden ceremony with Tied by Teila

When planning their Mil-Lel wedding, Lisa and Josh wanted a celebration rooted in personal history and effortless sentiment.

 

The ceremony took place in the front garden of Lisa’s childhood home, in the exact spot where her parents said “I do” 31 years prior. Lisa made an unforgettable entrance, arriving on horseback riding side saddle after teaching herself the technique over 18 months specifically for the occasion. Dressed in a Stella York gown sourced from Jenny & Gerry’s Bridal Centre, she walked down the aisle to exchange vows beneath an arbour handcrafted by Josh, Lisa’s brother, and a close friend, constructed using timber sourced directly from the family property.

Officiating the personalized ceremony was marriage celebrant Tied by Teila, who helped the couple exchange their Michael Hill rings and craft a service that felt genuinely like them. Teila set a relaxed, seamless tone for the day alongside Luke John Photography and Mills Media Productions, who kept the atmosphere lighthearted even when unexpected rain arrived. As Lisa recalled, “Teila Hill and Luke Anderson were both incredibly professional, helped the day run so smoothly and set the precedence for the mood of the day! We were pretty chill about being rained on for the most part, but they both didn’t make a big deal about it and helped us both be super comfortable on our big day.”

Following the ceremony, guests moved to the historic Mil-Lel Memorial Hall for an indoor-outdoor cocktail hour complete with a pop-up gin bar from Sinkhole Gin, followed by a formal three-course dinner catered by Finn’s Fine Foods. Katie Fox Makeup Artist and Sanctuary the Salon styled the bridal party, bringing fantastic energy to the morning while creating durable up-dos that held up beautifully through the rain. Every vendor worked together to bring the couple’s country hall vision to life. Reflecting on the ceremony itself, Lisa added:

"It was tailored so personally to us, I wouldn't consider us super romantic people. Teila made vow writing very easy and the ceremony spoke to us literally."
