After a simple and romantic proposal at home with their then four-month-old son, Gabrielle wasted no time in kicking into gear and planning her and James’ bohemian wedding.

“We got engaged on a Friday night, and within the week I had already booked our church, reception venue, and had been to d’Italia and had my dress and the bridesmaid dresses designed with the material picked out,” says the bride.

The couple, aged 29 and 25, exchanged vows and Michael Hill wedding rings at St. Martin De Porres, before heading to Carousel Albert Park for their long-table reception catered by Aerial by food&desire. The waterfront venue was transformed to suit Gabrielle and James’s relaxed, rustic and boho style for the occasion.

Throughout planning Gabrielle paid special attention to details. Having lost her grandfather the year prior, the bride made sure he was included throughout the day’s festivities.

“I was really upset my grandfather couldn’t be there to see me get married, so we included origami paper cranes in our wedding styling, as he used to make them for all my cousins and I when we were kids. I also wore origami crane earrings as a symbol of him. It’s those little details — they might not mean much to anyone else but so much to us.”

Gabrielle and James travelled in luxury thanks to Raco Special Vehicles.

Their son, the honorary pageboy, wore an adorable three-piece suit from Ollie’s Place Kidswear.

d’Italia custom designed the bridesmaid dresses to suit each bridesmaid.

“I had always wanted to get married at a winery, but my nan wouldn’t have been able to travel so we brought the winery vibes to the city. We got so many comments from staff that they’d never seen the venue styled the way we did,” says the bride.
