Emma and Tom keep it simple with relaxed country wedding

‘Keep it simple’ was the motto behind the relaxed country wedding of Emma Langley and Tom O’Shaunessey.

The Newcastle couple, both 27, married on September 5, 2015 with minimal fuss and formalities, “reflective of our personalities,” says Emma. “It was a relaxed and intimate ceremony, comprised of handwritten vows and music played by close friends, surrounded by our favourite company,” she says.

Emma and Tom first met through mutual friends. After dating just five weeks, they bid each other a fond farewell and headed off on respective trips to Europe which, by coincidence, were planned for the same time. “It was very difficult to say goodbye,” recalls Emma. A week later after checking into her London hotel, Emma was walking past a tavern when Tom spotted her through the window! “Tom changed his travel plans to meet me in Santorini six weeks later,” Emma says. “The rest is  history!”

They married at Adam’s Peak Country Estate in Broke, NSW, which boasts a gorgeous backdrop of the valley and mountains. “There was an ominous dark rain cloud in the west and a rainbow in the north,” explains Emma. “Post ceremony our guests headed up to the viewing deck for canapes, espresso martini’s and cigars.” Their reception was styled as a dinner party with classic long tables and share platters.

Emma says Tom is the most genuine and caring man she has ever met. Tom simply says he loves “everything” about Emma. “Her selflessness, generosity and beautiful nature are her top three attributes.”

Pastor and friend, Trevor Williams, officiated the “intimate and authentic ceremony, with the people we cherish,” describes Emma.
