A Byron Bay Surf Life Saving Club family legacy drew Adam, and his fiancé Elena, to their perfect wedding venue. That said, the waterfront location and stunning views didn’t hurt either.

In a tale of modern romance, it was love at first swipe for Elena and Adam. “The night we met in person, we immediately realised we could talk for hours,” says Elena. “The dating app got the flick pretty quickly after that!” A couple of years later, Byron Bay Surf Life Saving Club played host to their romantic coastal wedding for 84 guests.

Elena and Adam wove plenty of heartfelt details into their June 4, 2022 wedding, including a beautifully arranged table in honour of departed loved ones, a “something blue” necklace from Elena’s stepfather, and a meaningful twist on the first dance.

Proceeding the ceremony, the couple opted for a first look down by the water. Elena arrived in a Mercedes Sprinter Van complete with a white ribbon by Byron Bay Luxury Transfers. “The driver was really lovely. It was a great experience,” said Elena.

As Adam looked out over the ocean, Elena approached in her ivory a-line gown, featuring 3D florals of chiffon and organza petals. “When he turned around, I saw him in his suit and he saw me in my dress. Tears welled up for both of us,” remembers Elena. “We had waited so long for this day and it finally hit us both that it was happening. It was the best feeling ever!”

The ceremony took place on the Byron Bay Surf Life Club deck under a clear marquee. Adam’s groomsmen wore blush coloured ties and white rose boutonnières, while Elena’s bridesmaids wore tea-length blush dresses from Esther & Co.

Byron Bay Surf Life Saving Club provided the perfect blank canvas for soft, romantic styling in blush, gold, and ivory. Blooms, including Phalaenopsis orchids and babies’ breath, were used to adorn the tables. Colombian roses in creamy whites and soft blush pink were chosen as a special nod to Elena’s Colombian roots.

Prior to a seated feast, golden hour canapés and champagne were served against the backdrop of the bay, lighthouse, and mountains.

Elena and Adam’s first dance transitioned seamlessly midway through the song, with Adam being joined by his mum on the dance floor, and Elena by her brother. “It was such a special moment for me because in the lead up to the wedding, I had been really sad at the prospect of not having my dad to walk me down the aisle or dance with,” explains Elena.

As Sister Sledge’s ‘Thinking Of You’ came to a close, the party kicked off, with the guests joining the floor to celebrate with the happy couple.

Adam grew up in Byron Bay, and he spent many years volunteering for the Byron Bay Surf Life Saving Club. Many of his family, including his father are life members of the Surf Club. In fact, his grandfather was the club president when the building we got married in was first built. Adam’s surname is on many of the plaques and trophies around the venue which was very special.

“I found the perfect bridesmaid dresses at Esther & Co.”

I was looking for a mid-length blush dress wasn’t going to break the bank, and would look great on three of my bridesmaids’ different body types. Luckily, the dress I chose was also the first dress I saw and it was perfect! It was a beautiful colour, flattering, and was a style that could be worn again easily.
