Many couples we see face a common challenge at their reception: the post-dinner lull. It happens right as dessert wraps up. Food comas set in, alcohol wears off slightly, and the initial excitement of the day dips before the evening party gets underway.

How a singing waiter performance works

The genius of the performance lies entirely in the disguise. Rather than walking in with instruments or introducing themselves, singing wedding waiters arrive early, dress in the exact uniform of your venue’s catering team, and assist with serving food and drinks throughout the meal.

While clearing plates and topping up glasses, they silently scope out the room, identifying the big personalities who will help spark the party once the secret is out. Then comes the moment of the reveal.

“As the desserts are coming to an end, one of the waiters will walk through the room carrying a champagne bucket filled with spoons,” Alfie says. “They will trip over, usually in front of the top table, onto the floor and the spoon filled champagne bucket creates a huge ‘CRASH! BANG! WALLOP!'”

“All of the guests look over and the room goes silent,” Alfie continues. “The waiter apologises to everyone whilst on the floor, scattering around to pick up the spoons, before the music starts playing and the waiter pulls out a microphone and bursts into song. Within seconds everyone is laughing, confused, and they feel like they have just been pranked!”

From there, the secret waiter launches into a 40 minute, interactive performance designed to get guests off their seats. Think napkin swinging to Sweet Caroline, air guitar battles to Queen, and Bride versus Groom sing-offs.
