OVERVIEW
The Salitofilms Approach
Natural, unobtrusive filmmaking.
We give you space to be yourselves in front of the camera, stepping in with gentle direction when it helps and stepping back when it doesn’t. Our focus is on capturing genuine emotions, connections and moments as they naturally unfold.
A film that tells the whole story.
Your wedding is more than the ceremony and reception. From rehearsal dinners and welcome events to beach days, morning preparations and time spent with the people you love, we can capture the experiences that surround your celebration and shape them into one connected story.
Guidance without the pressure.
We’ll help when you need direction, but we’re never interested in staging every interaction. By keeping things relaxed and unobtrusive, we let you stay present in the moment while we document what’s happening around you. “We feel like we get to relive all the emotions and joy of the memories. The way you’ve captured the vibe of the day is like bottling the way Jenna and I feel about each other and pouring it into a video. Everything about it is just beautiful.” — Jenna & Elliot
From the big moments everyone remembers to the quieter exchanges you might have missed, your film is shaped by what actually happened. We’re there to capture the atmosphere, the people and the feeling of the day - without making the day feel like a production.
Whether you’re planning a one-day wedding close to home or a multi-day destination celebration, our coverage can extend beyond the wedding day itself. Rehearsal dinners, beach days and time with your favourite people can all become part of the wider story.
Depending on your coverage, you can also choose from two or three filmmakers, cinematic feature films, ceremony and speeches edits, drone footage where permitted, online delivery and selected packages with an early trailer.
Highlights of Working with Salitofilms
“Your presence on the day was calm yet structured & it was seamless and full of joy to have you at our wedding. Thank you so much for all your effort.” — Alicia & Matthias
About
I’m Josh, a Sydney-based wedding filmmaker. I believe the most meaningful moments are the ones you can’t plan. I take a relaxed, unobtrusive approach, giving you the freedom to be yourselves while I capture the laughter, emotion and little moments that make your wedding uniquely yours. My goal is to create films that don’t just show you what happened, but bring you back to how it felt.

I take a relaxed, documentary approach to filming weddings. I want you to live your day rather than perform for a camera. I’ll give direction where it’s helpful, but for the most part I prefer to step back, let you interact naturally and be a fly on the wall.
No, I specialise exclusively in wedding filmmaking. I’m happy to recommend photographers I’ve worked alongside and trust.
I’m looking for the moments that can’t be planned. The candid laughs, your best friend or parents crying, the ridiculous moments with your friends and all the little interactions you might not even realise happened.
These moments capture who you are and, years from now, they’ll be the things that bring you back to what it actually felt like to be there.
Not constantly. I’ll give you some direction when it’s needed, but I don’t want to stage every interaction. I’d much rather let things happen naturally and capture you as you actually are. For couple sessions, I typically don’t pose you either. Instead, I like to give you fun things to do that create natural moments and interactions for me to capture.
I take a lot of inspiration from movies and the way they tell stories and create atmosphere. I also shoot with a cinema-style anamorphic lens setup, which is more commonly used on film sets and gives my films a distinctive look.
Most of my time is spent behind a screen, editing your wedding film. This is where I take everything we captured and build a story around your particular day.
I shape the pacing, music, colour, sound and emotion around what actually happened. There are no templates - every wedding gets its own story.
I’ve filmed 65+ weddings over the past three years, giving me plenty of experience navigating all kinds of wedding days, venues and situations. Every wedding is different, but that experience has taught me how to anticipate moments, stay calm when things don’t go to plan and capture the important moments without getting in the way.
Calm, observant and hopefully easy to have around. I’ll be there when you need direction, but otherwise I want to give you the freedom to enjoy your day.
I’m there to capture what’s happening without becoming part of the production. Ideally, you’ll have a great time and barely notice I’m filming.
I typically shoot with a second filmmaker to make sure we can capture the moments that matter most. Having two of us means we can be in different places at the same time, capture different perspectives and give more attention to the little moments happening throughout the day. It also means I can focus on telling your story creatively without worrying about missing something important.
That’s completely fine. The documentary film is focused on the formalities - the ceremony, speeches and the key events of the day. It’s a more straightforward way to preserve everything that happened, without needing to turn it into a cinematic feature film.
Whenever someone tells me they’re awkward in front of the camera, they’re usually some of my favourite people to film. My goal is for you to forget I’m there and not do anything differently just because I have a camera. You don’t need to know how to pose or act natural - just be yourselves, and I’ll take care of the rest.
Absolutely. I’m based in Sydney, but I love travelling for weddings and am available anywhere in Australia and internationally. Whether it’s a destination wedding, a multi-day celebration or somewhere completely new, I’d love to come along and tell your story.
I’m always happy to hear your suggestions - particularly songs you love or songs you definitely don’t want. I don’t typically take specific song requests, as the right music can have a huge impact on the pacing, emotion and overall story of the film. There’s also the consideration of music licensing, as I need to ensure the music used is properly licensed for your film. I’ll choose music that works with your footage and helps bring the story to life.
Raw footage isn’t included as part of my standard packages. I carefully select, edit and colour the footage to create the final films, and a lot of the storytelling happens in the editing process. If you’re interested in receiving the raw footage, let me know and I can discuss the options with you.
Your trailer is delivered within 2-4 weeks, with the full wedding film delivered within 10-12 weeks.
Same-day edits aren’t part of my standard packages, but I’d love to discuss making one possible for your wedding. Get in touch and we can see what’s possible.
Yes. All flights are subject to weather, location and local regulations, so flying isn’t always possible.
I typically recommend 10-12 hours of coverage, depending on how much of your day you’d like captured. This allows us to tell the full story, from getting ready through to the celebrations.
No, I don’t currently offer Super 8 or film photography as a standard service. However, if you’d love that nostalgic Super 8-style feel, I’d be happy to discuss how we could make it happen.
Absolutely. I love capturing the events surrounding the wedding day, from rehearsal dinners and welcome parties to the wedding itself. Multi-day coverage allows us to tell a much bigger story and capture more of the people, moments and experiences that make your celebration unique.
