We had our wedding reception at The Langham, Melbourne recently and everything was wonderful. Here are our highlights of planning and holding our reception at this location. Planning and Preparations A special thank you to our wedding planner Kim Hilbig for her expertise and enthusiasm for making our big day a real fairytale experience! Kim's communication across the multiple layers of the planning stages, from the initial meet and greet to the finishing touches of the evening showed her willingness to go above and beyond to ensure a reception that matched our style of classical, formal, and elegant. Venue Our selection of The Alto Room for our reception was situated on the upper levels of The Langham and overlooking the Yarra and surrounding CBD provided worldclass views, with a sweeping vista from Fisherman's bend to the iconic Flinders' Street Station. An open-air balcony facing these inner-city urban views also impressed our guests on their first arrival into the venue and throughout the evening. A simply stunning backdrop to a simply stunning event. Food & Dining / Catering We were very satisfied with the taste testing from the options provided by The Langham, Melbourne, in-house catering team. The taste testing experience was an experience in itself as we had the opportunity to taste all that selected including beverages, canapes, entrees, mains, and desserts. On the week of the reception the chef's team showed its excellence for fine dining by ensuring that the selected food was to our liking. We had many fine comments from our guests regarding the superb quality of the food that evening. Food Service and Waitering Our team of waiters were super helpful and attentive to the needs of all in attendance, in particular us as the bridal table. We received world-class service with a smile and even some added compliments to our menu. Theming and Decor We were very pleased to find that in addition to our own suppliers that we were arranging, The Langham, Melbourne, shared with us the details of supplier Function Accessories. Paul was very helpful in guiding us through table arrangement styles since he had years of experience in decorating The Alto Room. Additional The accommodation room upgrade and complimentary valet parking were an added bonus to our fairytale package. Our wedding at the Langham Clarendon Ballroom was exceptional from start to finish. From our first walk through, our experience felt so personable and high quality. The Langham is classically elegant and has an old school charm mixed with personal touch that creates a tailored guest experience. The cascading staircase meeting guests on arrival and marbled hallways sets the tone for a special occasion ahead. The ballroom and pre-function area facilitated our wide range of family and friends to connect, with the option of long tables and excellent table decor from Function Accessories creating a beautiful aesthetic. The Langham team spent time to understand our vision for the wedding and the elements that were important to us. Planning a high quality buffet style meal with some of our favourite dishes was one focus area for us. At our menu tasting, the chefs and one of the lead waiters met us to discuss the menu and hear our feedback on the food, which gave us tremendous comfort on the day itself knowing there were people we’d made a personal connection with cooking for our family and friends. The Langham’s buffet style menu enabled a variety of high quality options to be on offer, with each of our guests walking away with a special culinary experience. We can’t speak more highly of our coordinator Kim who exuded enthusiasm and professionalism in delivering our special day. Kim brought the best of The Langham to our wedding, co-ordinating across the multiple hotel teams, bringing her knowledge of the hotel’s strengths and a positive mindset to deliver what we saw as a cohesive, seamless client experience exceeding our expectations. Kim’s communication, attention to detail, guidance and handling of logistics made our reception what it was. It was clear that co-ordinating weddings isn’t just a job to Kim, but rather a passion to create truly special days for her clients. Kim was a joy to work with. Our guests walked away remarking about the wedding’s beautiful presentation, incredible food and professional yet personal service.

They were accommodating, attentive, and truly made our day feel seamless and special. Every detail was handled with care, which allowed us to relax and fully enjoy the moment. Their professionalism, warmth, and exceptional service exceeded our expectations, and we would highly recommend them to anyone planning their wedding.

My husband and I had our ceremony at the Langham Hotel recently and they did an amazing job to make our wedding day so special. From the moment I reached out Kimberly from Langham, I felt completely at ease knowing we were in such capable and caring hands. Kim was responsive, organised, and thoughtful—especially given how last-minute everything was and my urge to change my wedding ceremony location from elsewhere to Langham. We received a lot of compliments from our guests on how perfect the ceremony was - there was so much peace that was felt in the Alto room and the view was incredible. We felt so calm and supported. Even the little details didn’t go unnoticed, and our stay at The Langham was such a lovely bonus to top off the experience. We’ll always look back on our ceremony with joy and appreciation.

We hosted our wedding at the Langham in February 2025 and genuinely could not have asked for a better experience. From the very beginning, the level of professionalism, organisation and care from the hotel was exceptional. Planning a wedding can be stressful, but the entire team at the Langham made the process feel smooth, effortless and genuinely enjoyable. The planning and event management were outstanding. Every detail was handled with incredible attention and precision, and communication throughout the entire process was prompt, clear and reassuring. The staff were always accommodating, flexible and proactive, and it was obvious that they truly cared about making our wedding perfect. On the day itself, everything ran seamlessly. The coordination behind the scenes was flawless, allowing us and our families to simply relax and enjoy the occasion without worrying about anything. The food deserves special mention because it was absolutely phenomenal. We chose the buffet option and it exceeded every expectation we had. The selection was extensive, beautifully presented and of an exceptionally high standard across the board. Every dish tasted fresh, refined and restaurant quality. Our guests still talk about the food over a year later, which says everything. The seafood, hot dishes, desserts and overall variety were all incredible, and the kitchen catered wonderfully to different dietary requirements without compromising quality at all. The beverage selection was equally impressive. There was a fantastic range of wines, spirits, champagne and cocktails available, all served professionally and generously throughout the evening. The service staff were attentive, polished and warm, constantly ensuring guests were looked after without ever being intrusive. The venue itself was, of course, stunning. The elegance and atmosphere of the Langham created the perfect setting for our wedding and gave the entire event a luxurious yet welcoming feel. Every space looked immaculate and beautifully maintained. What truly set the Langham apart, though, was the people. Every single staff member we dealt with was kind, professional and genuinely invested in making our wedding unforgettable. It is rare to encounter such consistently high standards across every aspect of a hotel and event experience. We are incredibly grateful to the Langham team for giving us such a perfect wedding day and such wonderful memories. We would recommend the Langham without hesitation to anyone considering a wedding venue. It was worth every cent and exceeded our expectations in every possible way.
