“Many of our guests praised the great food at Port Melbourne Yacht Club and the gorgeous venue. It really looked fantastic, with the candles and stylish table settings. The evening went by so quickly, but I did spend a few minutes outside on the deck at one point and noticed how pretty it looked with the lights on the water.” — Kate B.

Port Melbourne Yacht Club was a beautiful place for our wedding. Amazing views from the deck overlooking the bay and a lovely, spacious indoor space. Agnese and The Atlantic Group were very friendly and easy to communicate with and they organised our day perfectly. Our guests raved about how amazing the food was and the staff were extremely attentive. We would highly recommend this venue!

Perfect ceremony spot for privacy whilst still being in the grand Royal Botanical Gardens (where we had our first date!!). Theres a beautiful large tree to stand over that makes the best framing for photographs too.

Very happy with the venue, wonderful spot, wonderful architecture. The venue really captures the light coming off the bay. It made for some amazing ceremony photos.

How do I choose the right sized venue for 100 guests?

Do you have any tips on how to choose the right sized venue for this number of guests?

Try not to overwhelm yourself by visiting too many venues. Choose your top five or six and go from there. Seeing too many venues will just cause your brain to have an “information overload" and leave you more confused than when you started out. It's important to choose a venue that suits you taste and matches the style or theme of your vision.

There are going to be pros and cons with any venue you find so work out your top five most important aspects and go with the venue that suits these best. The venue should evoke some sort of emotional connection and get you excited about the wedding day. It also helps to choose a venue with a long standing reputation for high quality service and great staff.

And finally, if in doubt, ask! Dont assume or leave anything to chance. If you have any concerns, address them during the site inspection or as soon as possible before confirming your booking with a deposit.

How far in advance should I book my wedding venue?

I don't want to miss out on my dream venue. So, how far in advance should I make the booking?

Port Melbourne Yacht Club

With Saturdays being the most popular day to get married, and considering there are only 52 weekends in a year, it doesn't leave much leeway with most couples also vying for the same dates . We suggest trying to booking 12 to 18 months ahead especially if you are looking at the peak months of November, February and March.

Winter weddings tend to be a little more short lead and we suggesting tying to secure a date over the cooler months at least 8 to 12 months out. If you can be more flexible, and your preferred date at your chosen venue is booked, consider an off-peak night of Friday or Sunday which are usually the next days to book at the Saturday. Most venues will also offer off-peak rates or reduced minimum numbers which can also be a huge benefit if you're looking at a smaller celebration.
