The Dunes reopened in August 2019, after an 18 month rebuild, and the results are truly breathtaking. With sister venue At The Heads in Barwon Heads, the team are experienced in delivering exceptional events.
Nestled in the seaside town of Ocean Grove on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula, we are a truly spectacular venue overlooking the Surf Beach. With ceremony locations nearby, it means you can have everything in one location.
The building itself has a natural, sophisticated style, with floor to ceiling windows that allow an abundance of light. The beautiful facade creates a cinematic experience that is ideal for watching the waves crash in or the silhouettes of the surfers as the sun goes down.
We must not forget our expansive deck, which is perfect for post ceremony drinks. Imagine having your wedding photos on the beach, knowing that your guests have a drink in hand, and are enjoying some of the best views on Bellarine.
Our focus is on local, seasonal produce, with an absolute emphasis on quality. Whether you are looking for a laid-back beachy event, or a classic romance, the team at The Dunes will work with you to create your perfect day.

Hi Taylor, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It certainly was a difficult time for you guys with rapid changes to restrictions in the days leading up to your wedding. We were so lucky that we were able to open up The Dunes space and fit in with the rules, but still deliver your stunning wedding. I am so glad that you and Dane were still able to celebrate with your family and friends and have a beautiful event, at the end of the day, you were able to get married (almost) as planned, and go through the covid saga as Husband and Wife. Hello,
My understanding is that all states have different restrictions in regard to weddings depending where you're looking. During uncertain times like these my best advice would be to contact the COVID hotline on 1800 675 398 so you're able to get an accurate answer to your question. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
What is a realistic bar tab for 150 guests (Beer, wine, cider, soft drink)?
I have done a mountain of research and the calculations people provide leave us with a figure of about $10k but then when people who have been married make comment it is far less. I just need a realistic figure to put in our budget. We are looking into having the reception as a gin distillery so their drinks are a little pricier but they haven't officially opened yet so I don't have them. Thanks!

Hi Jenna, this will give you a rough idea of how to work out how much you will need to put on a bar tab. Keeping in mind that you know your guests the best in regard to whether they are big or small drinkers. Guests number x time at reception x price per drink. eg 150 guests x 5 hours at reception x $10 = $7,500.
