FAQ

Absolutely! We have a beautiful outdoor ceremony location overlooking the beach approximately 100 meters walk away. We are also able to accomodate stunning indoor set-ups.

The full venue can cater up to 220 guests for a cocktail style event or 180 guests for a seated dinner. We do also have the ability to increase the size of the room via a concertina wall to the neighbouring surf club and cater to groups of up to 300 guests. Please let your us know if you have guest numbers over 220 people and we can talk you through the options.

Yes! Inside the building is our inclement weather back up, which counts for extreme heat, to bitter cold and everything in between. We have airconditioning and heating, we also have the ability to use partition banquettes to separate the ceremony and reception areas, maintaining the element of surprise for your guests.

We picked The Dunes for our wedding venue and got married in March 2026! We picked the dunes because it was a sentimental spot for us growing up holidaying at Ocean Grove. We absolutely love going to eat at the restaurant and every time we’ve gone the food has been incredible. Our wedding coordinator was Daisy and she was nothing but amazing! Thank you Daisy and the whole team for making our wedding one of the best days of our lives! Everything was perfect on the day and there were no hiccups. Aria looked after our bridal table and she was amazing! Our whole bridal party and our parents kept saying how she always made sure there was a drink in their hands all night! The customer service throughout the night with all the staff was top notch along with the food! All our guests told us how amazing the food was! Thank you to the whole Dunes team for our wedding, we were in great hands and I can’t wait to come back for dinner soon. xx

The best venue ever! Jess Wood was incredible. A hidden gem that I cannot recommend highly enough. The food was insane and huge portions. The staff were amazing - the service was 5 star. Food came out quickly, minimal lines at the bar. We got given 5 golf buggies to get around in. Beautiful views, wet weather option. Perfect amount of space for 100 guests. Literally the best!! I had the best day/night thank you so much!!

Thank you so much to Maddison and The Dunes staff for the best wedding day we could imagine. Every aspect of the venue was perfect, our guest could not rave about the staff and food enough. Everything was delicious and amazing local Oakdene wine. Maddison was very professional and made the whole planning experience really easy and made me feel relaxed the whole way through knowing she had it all under control. The venue was stunning and although the weather was absolutely terrible, wind blowing and rain we still managed to have a beautiful ceremony indoors and the best reception. Would highly recommend the Dune to anyone picking a reception venture you won’t be disappointed.

Covid restrictions.. How do you go about buffets, grazing boards and cocktail weddings?

Hello, 

My understanding is that all states have different restrictions in regard to weddings depending where you're looking. During uncertain times like these my best advice would be to contact the COVID hotline on 1800 675 398 so you're able to get an accurate answer to your question. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

What is a realistic bar tab for 150 guests (Beer, wine, cider, soft drink)?

I have done a mountain of research and the calculations people provide leave us with a figure of about $10k but then when people who have been married make comment it is far less. I just need a realistic figure to put in our budget. We are looking into having the reception as a gin distillery so their drinks are a little pricier but they haven't officially opened yet so I don't have them. Thanks!

Hi Jenna, this will give you a rough idea of how to work out how much you will need to put on a bar tab. Keeping in mind that you know your guests the best in regard to whether they are big or small drinkers. Guests number x time at reception x price per drink. eg 150 guests x 5 hours at reception x $10 = $7,500.
