Hi there. Wondering if we're supposed to cater meals for our wedding suppliers, and which suppliers are typically included? Need to factor into our budget.
Highfields Cultural Centre
It really depends on your preference and who will still be around during meal service. Typically, this could include photograpers, videographers, DJ's, band members or photobooth attendants. In some instances, the celebrant or priest is also invited to the reception, however if they are given a seat at a table, they will usually be included in the guest numbers as opposed to the vendor numbers.
I can't decide! Round or rectangle tables?
What are the pros and cons of round or rectangle tables? What do most couples choose?
Highfields Cultural Centre
Round tables will allow your guests to mingle better as they can speak across the table, but remember to take this into account when choosing table decor as sometimes the centrepiece can block their view.
Long tables don't allow as much conversation, as you can really only chat with the people directly beside or across the table from you. They do however allow for some beautiful table decor options, such as long floral arrangements and greenery/runners.
It really depends on your own personal preference though, and often a venue will suit one style better than the other. Have a chat to your Function Coordinator and they should be able to help you decide.
What kinds of things should I consider when booking a venue?
Also, what is the normal deposit amount? Because one venue said 50% to secure the date but that seems large..

When considering a venue, you need to know the following-
* How many guests you are inviting, can all your guests fit comfortably?
* What style of wedding are you looking for? Does the venue meet these needs?
* What packages do they offer, is the venue flexible to your needs?
* Past history of venue, check out the reviews, do they have a good reputation? Can you trust the venue to manage your biggest day?
With regards, to the deposit, it should be a small amount approximately 10% of the wedding to secure your date. Please note this initial deposit may not be refundable, so make sure you are 100% happy before handing over any money. You may need to pay more deposit as it gets closer to your big day.
