Is it appropriate to ask my Grandmother to bake something for the dessert table?

She's an amazing baker and I think she would be happy to, but is it appropriate to have some home made stuff? Do venues care about that kind of thing? It would likely be biscuits/individual sweets like rum balls.

Congratulations on your upcoming event

Having home made items if the venue allows such adds such a personal element to any event. Yes go for it and ask her. Dont forget to do some trials and ensure they are ready at least 2 days before the evtn date and are sealed and stored properly so they remain fresh.

Double check with the venues about whether or not such items are allowed and whether or not they can serve them for you so it aligns with the same presentation of other items.

Good luck and wish I could try some...I love rum balls!

Hi,
That's really sweet to include your grandmother, just be careful and triple check with your venue as there are many rules about outside food products and food safety at venues with inhouse catering. If not maybe they can be a part of the bonbonneire for the guests :)
Best to have them made a couple of days prior and sealed so your grandmother is not running around stressing about having them ready!

All the best,
