It's a how long is a piece of string question! I'm charging $2,500 for all-day shooting, no time limits. I believe the average in NSW is $1,500-$4,500 (so say some wedding surveys). But you can find photographers around Sydney who will charge $25,000.
Main variables are:
-- number of shooters;
-- what the deliverables are (eg: digital download only, or album, or even other printed material, like thank you cards for guests, canvases, etc).
But the biggest variable is simply what the photographer thinks they're worth (or can get away with charging)! Which kind of depends on their experience and skill level, how well known they are, how many awards they've won, etc. I mean, everyone has a unique way of looking at the world, and since part of what you're paying for is that intangible, unique creativity, then it's not straightforward to put a valuation on it, and say what it should be worth. It's like, "How much should a painting be worth?"

For a 2025 Wedding 9 hours of Photography only is $4900. You can book both Photo + Video though and I give a 10% off when you book both. ALso If you book on of my contracting shooters instead of me personally you will recieve a 15% off how amazing! So many of my couple ask for my contractors these days as they had a friend who had them in the past and loved them and why not for the discount too, free's me up for the bigger weddings and saves you money and everyone is happy.

Factors such as location, number of guests do influence the cost. That said you would expect to pay around the $3k mark. This includes time with the clients before the wedding, equipment hire, time on the day and editing and online access to your images for download.

For nine hours of coverage you're generally looking at somewhere between $2,500 and $4,000 across most experienced studios, and where you land in that range usually comes down to whether it's one shooter or two, how much editing is included, and whether the photographer travels in-house or sends your gallery offshore to be edited. That last point matters more than people realise, because it's the difference between a consistent, hand finished look and a batch of images run through someone else's style.
Nine hours is a really comfortable amount of time, and it's actually one of our favourite lengths to shoot. It lets us start with the getting ready and the small quiet moments, cover the ceremony without rushing, get you out for portraits in good light, and still be there for the speeches and the first part of the dancefloor. In a Queensland summer especially, that window matters, because the harsh midday sun means we'll often plan your couple portraits for late afternoon when the light goes soft and golden, so having the hours to move things around is a genuine advantage rather than just a number on a quote.
My honest advice is to look past the hourly figure and ask what's actually inside the package. How many edited images do you receive, is there a second shooter, who does the editing, how long until you get your gallery, and do they include a pre wedding shoot so you're relaxed in front of the camera on the day. Two quotes at the same price can be wildly different once you unpack them.
