A Shot Above the Rest

Melissa is an absolute professional at what she does and it shines through. After having an engagement shoot with her we just HAD to book her for our wedding, and she provided such peace of mind in the lead-up to the big day. She went out of her way to give us her advice before the day, explained how the day would go on her end, and made sure we knew exactly what to expect. I could not have been any happier with the results of our wedding photos! She made us feel so at ease throughout the entire day and we had so much fun throughout all of the photos. Honestly, we cannot thank her enough for the beautiful memories that we now get to keep and look back on forever. She is the only person I will be going to in the future for beautiful photos and memories to cherish.

Mel (along with her 2nd photographer Mallie) was able to capture a huge array of fantastic photos of our wedding day, despite the additional challenges of wind and an outdoor setting as well as the whims of our overwhelmed toddler. Leading up to the big day she was organised and helped guide us through putting together shot lists and plans, and was happy to give her own advise when requested based on her own experience and the many wedding she has shot, and to let us take the lead when we have something special in mind. On the day she was happy to engage with the venue staff and other professionals to coordinate and make sure she was there to get pictures at every step of the way, while being as unintrusive as possible. The photos have turned out great, with a good mix of serious, playful, artistic, and candid pictures of us and our normally picture shy group of friends and family. I'd be happy to recommend A Shot Above the Rest to anyone looking for a photographer for their wedding or other event.

We stumbled on Melissa by sheer luck and after having an initial meeting with her and discussing our wedding and venue, my wife and I knew we had to lock her in! Melissa was kind and courteous but also knew how to get the shots she knew we would like and didn't shy away from telling us what to do and where to be, my wife and I loved that as both military members we had no idea how to look good for photos but we could take orders perfectly and the magic Melissa created from that was awe inspiring! We could never suggest Melissa any more she is a genius with a camera and a fantastic way to relive the cherished memories of your big day. Thank you Melissa we look forward to getting together again for our 1 year for some old school photos!

Mel was absolutely amazing for our wedding. She was great at communicating, planned everything out perfectly and was flexible on the day. Our photos were beautiful and they reflected who we were as a couple. Mel had a million ideas for pictures, locations around Canberra and surrounds, knew how to manage all the different personalities in the wedding party and you can feel her excitement when taking your photos.
