My dad and his fiance are about to get married this summer and I’m in charge of selecting songs for the whole day. The only song set I’m missing are the songs to be played during the ceremony itself. I was thinking of playing the song my dad’s fiance sang during the first time they met in an international dating social event. But I was thinking of using it for their first dance together. Another option was using the first song they sang together during karaoke night the day she first met our family. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

Hello
What you have mentioned are both great options. Keeping it personal is always a great way to go for the "walk down the aisle" song.
As for songs pre-ceremony and as they sign the marriage certificate, just think of uplifting slow/pop ballads; nothing that is too sad/or depressing as its a celebratory day and you what people to feel happy.
Eg. My girl, Stand by me, At last, Come away with me, Thinking out loud..... songs along these lines. That speak of love, togetherness etc.
I hope that helps

Love is all around by wet, wet, wet is a classic at any wedding, you could also use some songs by keith urban as he sings great songs. hope this helps!
Chosing tunes that have accompanied special moments for the couple is a great choice. As a bagpiper, I am often asked to play popular tunes that are significant to the couple as it adds a real sense of personality to the wedding.
Family heritage should also be an influence on song selection - perhaps you would like to do a tribute to a relative far away.

Being given the job of choosing songs is a big task!
Thinking of songs that have been shared within special moments is a great idea, and adds a really unique and emotional touch. Try asking them who their favourite bands or singers are, any concerts they have been to together, or songs that reflect the couple themselves (and how much they love each other).
Ceremony songs can be anything that suits the couple, but often more gentle, sweet and beautiful songs for the ceremony can really bring a focus onto the bride and groom. After the completion of the signing, something more celebratory and upbeat can really fit this moment as it’s celebration time from there on!
Hey There,
I guess it really depends on what you want the songs to do. Do you want the songs to reflect them as a couple? Then I'd choose songs that they both know and love!!
As for some common ceremony songs, Everything by Michael Bublé is great. If you want something more classical or traditional Ave Maria is a common choice.
Good luck with song choosing!!

This is a great question, even if it’s a few years old!
For the ceremony, personal songs are always the most meaningful, using something tied to a special memory, like their first karaoke song with family, can make the moment really intimate. You could then reserve the song from the first time they met for the first dance, so both moments get their own spotlight.
