Are you looking for something special to entertain your guests for your wedding?

A Bellydancer is simply a 'party starter'. She acts as a way to mark the place in the evening where your guests are invited up onto the dance-floor. Bellydancers are often joined by folk dancers and drummers in the bridal party entrance to the wedding reception as part of the zaffet.

Weddings are joyous occasions, however guests sometimes need entertainment whilst the Bridal party are busy. A typical wedding show consists of a solo floor show to entertain the guests. This can be with isis wings (think big gold butterfly wings), or even a drum solo or sword balancing act. The Bellydancer then asks the Bride and Groom onto the dancefloor to dance with them, and at this point the guests are also invited up.

A Bellydancer aims to have the floor packed with dancing guests by the end of her set, and leave you all dancing the night away.

Music can obviously be tailored to suit the particular cultural background, and costumes can be worn that are fully covered.

Director Josie Palermo has had over 2 decades of local and international experience in middle eastern dance and is proud to work with the best dancers and musicians in Melbourne.​ Josie has conducted classes and various short term workshops in Arabic dance in Melbourne and Regional Victoria for many years. A bellydancer for your Hens Party can be the best way to bring fun, joy and laughter to all your guests no matter what their age. Our special offer this month is if you book a Hens Party we will come and perform at your wedding for the same price!! That's a $350 saving!


For Hens parties we usually provide a full hour of entertainment including a performance and some crowd interaction / workshop component. You receive:
  • Dress ups for all the Hens - coin hip scarves
  • A Belly dance costume for the Bride to wear (she obviously has to be the most stunning of you all!).
  • A professional Bellydancer as your Hostess in full costume
  • 1 hour Belly dance workshop - this isn't a hard core dance class (unless you want it to be!). It is more about getting you all in the party spirit and to let your hair down with your friends. You'll go through all the basic dance moves and then we will put them all together into an easy dance routine. It is always a total crack up.
  • A gift bag for the bride - a gorgeous hip scarf for her to remember the day with
  • Time for piccies
  • The cost for a 1 hour Belly dance Hens party is $470 (including travel, up to 20 people)

We are also more than happy to bring along music from a particular cultural background to suit your guests. e.g. Arabic, Turkish, Bollywood, Greek, etc. Maybe there are some favourite songs that your guests particularly love and would encourage them up to dance. Anything to make you all happy and encourage people onto the dance floor.

The dancer makes a dramatic entrance with veil or large big butterfly or LED Isis wings. Having a drummer as well obviously takes the celebration up another notch!  We wear matching costumes and definitely get the crowd pumping!

Duet and Trio Bellydance Shows
The cost for a standard 20 minute Bellydance performance is $350. For that, the dancer makes a dramatic entrance with veil or large big butterfly wings or beautiful LED wing). She does a solo of a couple of songs, and then she turns to the bride and groom and the bridal party and invites them up to dance. We aim to have you all up on the dancefloor having a great time!

Adding another dancer can be really special.  The price for a duet is $550. Our dancers perform choreographed shows that include balancing swords and using canes for a more folkloric flavour. Adding another dancer making it a trio brings the package to $950.

Zaffet or Bridal Entrance Procession

In Arab culture, the zaffet or wedding march is a musical procession of drums, bagpipes, horns, bellydancers and men carrying swords. This announces that the marriage feast is about to begin. Our bellydancers are trained in working with the male folk dancers and often lead the procession using Isis or LED wings and zills. This announces the bride and groom have arrived at the wedding reception and for the next 15 or 20 mins they dance with the zaffet and all the guests are invite to join them on the dance floor. There is nothing more joyous than starting your wedding reception in this way. Prices for zaffet vary according to the number of dancers and musicians required,

FAQ

Shows can range from 15 to 30 mins depending on the type of entertainment package and number of guests. We find that 20 mins is usually the sweet spots for a standard bellydance show that includes crowd participation.
