Hi there; Summer is such a great time to have a wedding! It’s the perfect time of year to use a fresh, vibrant and fun colour palette to make your wedding one to remember. Our designers here at Candle Bark weddings have had a brainstorm on what we think makes the perfect colour palette for a Summer Wedding.

-     Florals are very in-trend, with endless bright, summer colours to explore. Our designers know you can never go wrong with a warm blush pink, burgundy to contrast, pastel colours like turquoise and blue, with gold to highlight.

-     Summer weddings go hand in hand with a Beach themed colour palette. For this style, our designers recommend the use of watercolour to add beautiful, soft splashes of detail throughout your stationery.

-     If you are dreaming of a more minimal, stylish and modern theme, we recommend lots of white flowers contrasting with beautiful deep green and mint coloured foliage.

If you are needing some more inspiration, we have plenty of summer styled wedding stationery over on our Website. All of our stationery is completely customisable, so we can work together to create a design that is uniquely suited for you! Please don't hesitate to contact us for any other questions :)

When designing invitations, it's important to consider your likes and dislikes - not just the current trends in design (which can sometimes be controversial!).  However, choosing particular colours for particular seasons or days can be a fun way to create atmosphere at your event. For summer, my personal favourites are:

  • Lush, vibrant greens, sometimes included with design elements like foliage and ferns
  • Clear, airy blues reminiscent of beach waves and blue skies
  • Muted yellows which complement these natural colours without being overpowering- like warm sunlight

I tend to find that warmer or brighter colours like pinks and purples work best for spring, when florals abound. For example, pink and purple colours on floral cards look great for Easter or celebrations that tap into femininity like Mother's Day or baby showers.

To help these invitations look even more summery, I recommend using delicate text - for example, a flowing, handwritten script or delicate serif text for a carefree and happy feel. Foil or gloss can also add some great lightheartedness and shine. Heavier and more serious fonts and embossing have a regal feel, which might feel more wintery - think being curled up in front of a log fireplace or being inside a regal but chilly throne room.

As you can see, colours and shapes can definitely evoke different feelings - so be sure to balance the designs you love with colour theory if you're aiming for a particular atmosphere. Searching on Pinterest or Etsy can really help, as favouriting designs you love will allow them to show you more inspiration with the same vibe.

The most important thing to remember about your wedding invitations is that they should represent YOU and your personalities. I recommend ignoring the trends and do something that you will love for years to come.

However in saying that, popular summer colours are GREEN, gold and pinks. Anything bright and floral works beautifully for summer invitations. If you prefer dark and moody styles, then burgundy and navy are fantastic contrast colours, which you could use for the text or envelopes.

Although these seem like autumn shades, new trending colours are mustard and terracotta which will pair really well with greenery.

I advise my couples to start a Pinterest board for all your wedding inspiration. Pin anything that catches your eye that you love. You will notice a trend developing for yourself about what kind of colours and themes you like.
