A smudge proof lipstick would be best to invest in to avoid any transfer. I work with many different types of lipsticks for weddings depending on the preferences of the bride. Most brides go for a matte/long lasting lipstick so that it is going to last longer than say a glossy or creamy one. The best thing to do is to make sure that you have blotted off the residue and so you are just left with the shade of the lipstick from a matte lipstick. Apply, reapply and blot twice! - Works wonders for me with my brides and I make sure that when I do the lip - I press in as much product as possible so the colour stays put as long as possible. Sometimes I will seal in the colour with a stain colour over the top if I want to make sure it is really kiss proof!

Such a great question!

You can use a colour stay lipstick, there are some great ones on the market, but these can leave the lips feeling dry.

For your lip colour to last its all about staining your lips so that you don't need a heavy amount of lipstick that will smear all over your face.

Make sure your lips are exfoliated and lip balm applied first and left to sink in whilst the rest of your make up is being applied.

then using a lip pencil that matches your lipstick line and fill in the lips. Apply the lipstick, blot with a tissue. Powder the lips and reapply more lipstick.

There is a product available from priceline that I found to really help lock in the colour all day. its called lipcote. you apply it over your lipstick for that extra staying power.

Hope this helps :)

This is such a common question and it always makes me smile.  That first kiss as a married couple is so special and there are many ways to ensure that your lipstick doesn't end up making both of you look like The Joker from Batman.

There are a lot of smudge-proof and wear-proof products on the market that your makeup artist may be able to source for you, but often their colour range is quite limited and they can leave your lips feeling dry with a film on the inner lip after a few hours.

A little smudging is pretty inevitable on the Wedding Day, so I often recommend a gentle kiss after the vows and then save up all the passionate kisses for the Bridal suite.

Have a beautiful wedding!
