Hi, in my experience, if you want hair and makeup for 6 or more people,  i would definitely bring 1 more artist with me to speed up things and save time. Or else you will have to start too early. Generally for such big group, I fo thd makeups and I get an artist who do all the hairstyles. That way we are faster. On the other hand, if you only have 6 makeups or 6 hairstyles, then 1 artist is enough. I would like to add that factors like, what makeup style you want or what hairstyle you want, what is the hair length for everyone, also plays a role in determining whether you would need 1 artist or 2.  Hope this helps.

I say I have done up to 14 by my self... I say it depends on hair styles and time of service... Also how qualified the hairdresser is I have been doing hair for over 30 years I find the holly wood waves and simple styles is so easy and I seem to get stuff done so fast... I am a sole operator most of my weddings have at least 7  or more getting hair done... I always find I add 1 or 2 on the day people see my work and ask to be done last minute.

Hi, yes, six people is too many for one person to do.  You would be waiting too long to have them all done and you would more than likely be starting very early to get through them all.  This is more manageable with two stylists.

I feel it is. I need about two hours per person and slightly more for a bride. Things can get hectic and people are not always ready to start on time. I recommend hiring either one person for hair and one for makeup or 1 artist per 3 people. That way the bridal party does not need to start at some crazy hour in the morning.

No it's definitely not, the biggest I've done is 9 for a 3pm ceremony

I’ll try to answer this in the most helpful way I can. As I’m not yet sure of your exact timing, or whether the 6 services are for makeup only or makeup and hair — the answer can vary slightly, so I’ll outline a few scenarios below.

Timing
For a group of this size, it typically takes around six hours to complete makeup and hair, as we rotate between services. To work out your start time, I recommend checking with your photographer what time they’ll be arriving, as they usually like hair & makeup to be almost complete when they arrive. From there, you can simply count back six hours.

Early ceremony
If you have an early ceremony (for example, 11:00am or earlier), that’s when it’s worth considering additional artists to ensure the morning runs smoothly & stays relaxed.

If it’s just 6 makeups
6 people is a very average number for makeup only, and this can comfortably be done by one makeup artist – again depending on your timing.

If it’s 6 for makeup & hair
If 6 services include both makeup & hair — this would be too many for one artist. In this case, adding another artist is usually the best option. I would recommend 1 makeup & 1 hair stylist (if early start then one additional person)

If additional artists are needed, a few things to consider:
• Experience - make sure the artists are part of a small, experienced team (
rather than assistants, as experience makes a big difference on the day).  Our team are all senior artists we & work out what best works well for you based on your timing

• Extra costs– for my brides the only additional cost when adding an artist is the travel fee per artist — all other pricing remains the same (check this is the same for other vendors)

I hope this helps. I just wanted to share some helpful info, so you can ask the right questions  — I’m always happy to help if you need anything further.

Warmly, KerryHowell

It really depends on whether you’re booking hair and makeup together, or just hair or just makeup.

We often do 6 hairstyles and 6 makeups with two staff members — one hairstylist and one makeup artist. If you’re booking 6 hairstyles only, one experienced hairstylist can comfortably look after everyone, allowing around 45 minutes per person on average. Timing can vary slightly depending on the artist’s skill and experience, but our senior artists work confidently and efficiently.

If your wedding is early (for example, a breakfast wedding), we usually recommend allowing around 3 clients per staff member so you’re not having to wake up before the birds!

I personally don't think this is too big.  Providing one person is not doing both hair and makeup. I wouldn't be doing both hair and makeup by myself as it means a very long day to ensure all 6 people (12 services) are completed on time.

There should be one artist for makeup and one stylist for hair to ensure a smooth running schedule on the wedding day.  Also when there is 2 people working it means there is always 2 people on the bridal party that's getting hair or makeup done at the same time.  This generally cuts down the getting ready time by about 50%, which means more sleep for everyone.

If you're wanting only 1 person to do both hair and makeup (12 services in total), then it means earlier start and longer preparation/getting ready time.

However this does come down to the artist/stylist you hire and whether they can accomodate 6 or more people.

Definitely discuss this with the vendor prior to booking and seek their suggestion/opinion.

Hi, for just makeup , no 6 would be approx 6-7 hours. If both hair and makeup, we offer 2 artists one for hair and one for makeup so again would only be 6-7 hours.
