My fiance has a neck tattoo that I don't want in all the family photos, is this easy to cover up with makeup?

Tattoo cover is a specialised makeup service that few artists offer.  It is not as easy as many think and when it is done, many expect a completely invisible end result. The fact is, good tattoo cover up involves extremely high pigment sturdy makeup that requires patient layering for a full coverage. In photos, it will look as if that tattoo is gone, but in person, close up, there will be slight visible makeup showing, as the cover needs to be full and most tattoos are slightly raised, this cannot be changed. Also, depending on the area and how much the skin moves in that area, or if it rubs against clothing or is near a heat and sweat producing part of the body, this will also potentially affect the durability of tattoo cover. Alcohol activated products are brilliant for longevity, even during swimming, but on some clients it can crack if applied incorrectly and as it is alcohol activated, it can be uncomfortable on sensitive skin.

You can get retailed products such as Dermablend which are designed for remedial and tattoo cover ups, but it is not as durable as the professional stuff.

Tattoo cover up is an option, as long as you understand it's limitations

Yes, tattoo coverage can be done but make sure to let your artist know in advance so they can make time for it accordingly and bring the necesssary products. A large tattoo can take quite a bit of time to cover ! It also usually incurs an extra charge.

Yes tattoos can be covered. We use specific tattoo cover products to ensure the most effective coverage. This will come at an extra cost but always something we can do

Hello, yes covering up the tatto is easy enough using the right products to counter the colour ink.  these can be set so as to not rub off throughout the day.

Dear Bride,

You can cover the tatoo with remedial camouflage makeup there are plenty on the market yet you firstly need an orange colour corrector, kryolan is great as it really lasts, then cover with High Definitioin coverage makeup , this is makeup that reflects light.

Never just cover the tatoo as in picctures you will see the shape of the tattoo make sure you blemd it out over the whole neck and if you don't want it to transfer to clothing you could use a skin plastic to make it water proof or waterproof makeup fixer spay.

Hope this has given you a few tips.

Hi, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Yes tattoos can be covered. There are specific products that need to be used, which are more pigmented and minimise any tranfer onto clothes.

The first thing that would need to be done is colour correct the tattoo which is usually done with an orange colour corrector. Then once that is set you can go over with the camouflage concealer and set that with powder. It requires a lot of layering to ensure it is completely covered. to the naked eye you still may see some texture but the colour will of gone and you wont be able to see it in photos. if you wish to do it yourself and practise. Dermablend have some great camoflauge products on the market. you can also try scotty's makeup or Kryolan.

Hope that helps.

I’m always happy to assist, as every wedding is unique. Super happy to provide information that helps guide you in making the best decisions for your special day. I understand how important it is to get everything just right.  I hope this helps.

The first step is to neutralize the color and establish an even base. Once that’s done, applying airbrush makeup will help seal everything in place, ensuring both a flawless finish and long-lasting wear. I recommend using a water-based airbrush foundation, as it’s less likely to transfer. With 12 years of experience teaching airbrushing at makeup schools, I can confidently say this method provides both durability and a smooth, natural look -airbrushing also great for major skin issues/Vitiligo/scar coverage and using airbrushing on tv shows covering these issues.
