When to have a hair and makeup trial

Hi. I was wondering whether I should book my hair and makeup trial before I've booked my artists or after? What happens if you book someone and you have the trial and you don't like it? Can you cancel at that point? Is it normal to have a trial before you book?

Le Fabulous

If your wedding is 6 months to 1 year in advance and you would like a trial closer to the wedding date, we would recommend you secure your wedding date with your aritst in advance. Most of the popular makeup artist could be booked out before your trial date if you haven't secured the booking.

Sometimes it is hard to do a trial too earlier on because your may not have bought your dress yet, or your hair is not long enough for a style you like.

It would be best to communicate eg email, phone call with your makeup artist to see if you can connect with them before the trial.

There are a few things we ask before doing a trial.  1) Have you bought your wedding dress 2) How is your hair 3) What hairstyle would you like?

We believe that a hairstyle should match the bride's face shape and personality. However it should also compliment her wedding dress.  For example if the back of her dress is fully covered with lace, we probably would go for an updo. Secondly, the lenght of ther hair will determiine if we can do a particular (we can use hair extensions if required).  A make up trial can be done any time before a wedding day.

Is airbrushing for a wedding still popular?

Hi, I'm wondering what kind of makeup to have for my wedding day. What are the most popular makeup looks at the moment for weddings? And new techniques? Is air brushing still a thing or was that a fad? Thanks.

Le Fabulous

My team and I specialise in Airbrushing makeup since the start of our business in 2009.

I remember when I was studying makeup, my teacher said I must learn Airbrushing, because less than a handful of makeup artist provide this in Sydney.

After 12 years, there's only a few top makeup artist who provide this service.

Compared to the traditional foundation, we spray the foundation onto your skin with a speical machine (so sophisticated) It is smooth, flawless, light and the coverage is remarkable.  Your makeup will last up to 15 hours with photo finish results - no touch up required.

Airbrushing does not clog your skin. It is not tested on animals and perfect for normal to sensitive skin.  Try us out!

How far in advance do I need to book my hair and makeup artists?

Also, is there an ideal time to have a trial before the wedding? Thanks.

Le Fabulous

As soon as possible if you love their work.   The popular ones (Top artists) will be booked out. Very often we are booked 1 to 1.5 years in advance.

what do brides usually ask for from a hairstylist?

updo or down?

Le Fabulous

Our brides sometimes aren't sure what hairstyles suits them.  We always recommend a style that will suit their face shape and their wedding dress.  If something doesn't work on them, we will be honest and help them find a style that will suit them.  If their hair is dry, oil, fine, frizzy, losing hair etc we always recommend products to help them so they have nice hair on their wedding day.  We often text each other to bounce ideas off one another.

I've never gotten a spray tan before... should I try it a few times before the wedding?

Or do you have any other ideas or suggestions?

Le Fabulous

Hi Ruby, we specialise in spray tanning, as well as hair and make up! Yes you should try out a tan before the big day. I normally do a tan for the brides for her hen's night, or for a special occasion. I would recommend you do a spray tan 2 days before your wedding day. Because you are getting married in winter, a beautiful bronzed skin will look amazing!

What is the best kind of lipstick to wear on your wedding day?

I'm not sure what kind of lipstick to wear, matte? Or liner all over? Or a specific brand that stays on?

Le Fabulous

Hi Kelly, the best lipstick I recommend is a colour lip gloss. (This is for yourself to do during the day.) It is easy to reapply, its smells nice and you don't need a mirror. It also help moisturise your lips. Sometimes when brides are nervous, they tend to have drier lips and they aren't drinking enough water throughout the day. That's why I also recommend a nice colour lipgloss, something from Mac or Stella.

Can I bring my bridesmaids to my Makeup/Hair trials?

I'm indecisive and need a firm hand to tell me if I look good!

Le Fabulous

Hi Melanie, We would love to see your bridesmaids too at the trial! We have a studio and we always have the best time chit chatting about the wedding ;-)
