can makeup artists cover tattoos?

like i said in my other question, i dont know much about makeup so this might be a silly question. i have a few small tattoos id like to hide on my wedding day. will my makeup artist cover them for me? is this a usual bridal request? and should this be included in her price?

HI Kessia, an experienced makeup artist will have no trouble covering your tattoos. This is usually priced separately depending on the size of the tattoo. It is requested these days more often than not.

what am i asking for when i ask my makeup artist for 'bridal makeup' ?

im not really a girly girl, so i dont know anything about makeup. i dont know what im asking for when i ask my makeup artist for the bridal look. and will they know what colours will look best with my dress/flowers/with my skin? i honestly dont know what to expect out of this appointment and would love an explanation

HI Kessia, I would suggest that you choose a makeup artist whose pictures you really like whether they be on their website, facebook or instagram. An experienced makeup artist will be able to create a look designed just for you by taking into account your facial features, skin colour, dress, flowers, etc. It should all be taken into consideration when you are choosing what makeup will suit you best.

How do you choose your hair and makeup artist?!?

There are so many different companies and people out there and I'm just finding it so difficult to choose. I dont know how much i should be spending and im no makeup expert so i dont know what I'm looking for. I dont know how to decide, what questions should i be asking? what should i be looking for? Also whats the difference between airbrush and traditional? Will airbrush be better if my wedding is in summer? Hellllpppppppp pleaseeeee

Hi Alexandra, it is very difficult to choose a hair and makeup artist as there are so many out there in the market place today. My best advice to you is to look at either their website or facebook page to see what their work is like. Then give them a call to chat about your wedding and discuss prices and what services they can offer you. With regards to the difference between traditional and airbrush makeup - the best way to describe it is traditional makeup is applied with a brush or sponge and airbrushing is applied with an airgun like a spray tan. Airbrush makeup is like a claytons makeup - the makeup you are wearing without wearing makeup. It is so light you can't feel it, but it covers like a dream. Ask your makeup artist for a sample of it at the trial.

who usually pays for the bridesmaids makeup?

There are no hard and fast rules about who pays for what. I find these days it is just worked out between the bride and bridesmaids.

I've never gotten a spray tan before... should I try it a few times before the wedding?

Or do you have any other ideas or suggestions?

Hi Ruby, if you are wanting a spray tan for your wedding day to have a bit more colour than usual then it is a good idea to try it a week or two before your wedding. If you like it then have it applied at least three days before your wedding. One very important point to remember is that a spray tan will only add colour to your skin. It won't even out strap marks or very uneven coloured skin. If this is why you are wanting a spray tan then the best thing to do is have the makeup artist airbrush your chest area and/or back to even out those strap marks or skin colour.

What is the best kind of lipstick to wear on your wedding day?

I'm not sure what kind of lipstick to wear, matte? Or liner all over? Or a specific brand that stays on?

Hi Kelly, lipstick is a personal preference. There are so many on the market today. I always ask my client what they prefer and take it from there. I like to line the lips fully with a lip pencil and then use whichever lipstick the bride likes. The lip liner will help the lipstick to last longer. It always best to have a touch up lipstick with you all day to reapply.

Can I bring my bridesmaids to my Makeup/Hair trials?

I'm indecisive and need a firm hand to tell me if I look good!

You can bring whoever you like to your wedding trial. It is sometimes helpful for the bride to have the opinions of her trusted friends.

How long should I set aside for my make up trial?

A makeup trial takes about an hour, but you can take as much time as you like until you are happy with the look you are after.

When should I cut and colour my hair before the wedding?

I tell my brides that it is a good idea to have a cut and colour about two weeks before the wedding. It allows for the colour to settle down and for the hair to grow back into its style. We would prefer you don't cut the front of your hair as it is always best to have as much length as possible.

What is a good style of make-up for a beach wedding?

Do you have any advice for make-up for a beach wedding?

The style of makeup is totally up to the bride. I will make suggestions for you, but ultimately you know what you would like. Generally it is soft and romantic, nothing too strong.

Do I have to wear my hair up on my wedding day?

I prefer my hair down but everyones saying I should wear it up because it's more elegant and formal. Do bride's traditoinally have to wear their hair up?

No, you do not have to wear your hair up on your wedding day. You decide what is best for you and what you are comfortable with. The main thing is to find a style that suits your face shape and something that will accentuate your dress.

How much does wedding make-up usually cost?

We charge $90 per person for conventional makeup and $105 for airbrushing. Conventional makeup is applied with a brush or sponge and airbrush makeup is like having a spray tan. I describe it as claytons makeup - the makeup you are wearing when you don't feel like you are wearing makeup. It is long lasting and does not feel like you are wearing anything whilst providing you with great coverage and a flawless look.
