There are loads of questions you should ask but here are my favourite ones:

How long have you been a florist for?

Do you use locally grown flowers?

How many on yur team?

How do you condition my flowers so they last the day?

Do you have public liabilty insurance?

Will you provide an itemised quote?

Great question!

Apart from the more obvious issues such as are they available on your day, you might want to also ask:

  • Will they personally attend to install your flowers for the ceremony and reception?
  • Are they happy to deliver the bridal party bouquets, flower crowns, boutonniers and corsages to multiple addresses on the day...and in time for the photo shoot?
  • Does the florist make sure they attach the boutonnieres to the men's jackets for them? I find this personal touch ensures the best result and gives piece of mind to the boys.
  • Will they transfer the arbour arrangement to the bridal table and make use of the aisle marker flowers at the reception to ensure maximum use of flowers? Do they have any other tips to help extend the budget?
  • If your chosen flowers are not available for the day, will they discuss the necessary changes with you (if this is your preference)?
  • How do they ensure maximum freshness of flowers on the day of the wedding (eskys, airconditioning, in water till delivery?) and what tips can they give you to keep the blooms looking their best all day?
  • Will they correspond with the venue and cake supplier to ensure everyone is on the same page with timing and arrangements?
  • What's their favourite footie team.....nah just kidding!!!

Such a great question!!

Obviously the first thing you want to know is whether your chosen florist is available for your date and whether they will be onsite to personally set up or if they have a team to do that for them.

Make sure they know your venue timeline so that they can be realistic as to whether they can do what you're asking within that time frame. if you're asking for several large installations, but only have a 2 hour window for the florist to be onsite for set up, that will be something they need to know so as to determine whether this is possible for them or not.

Also be sure to know their contract and policies around retainers, cancellations and postponements.

We think that it important to meet in person to check that you feel you are 'on the same page'.

Some specific questions would be to know

1. If the florist has a minimum spend.

2. What is their favourite style

3. If they have worked at the venue before.

4. if they are unwell on the day who will take over for them.

Hi there,

Usually those questions are important at first steps.

Do you have any packages? Are you flexible to work around my budget ? Are available on my day? May I know your policy for payment & refund please?

Any other questions please let me know.

kind regards,

Frida

Definitely availability for the chosen date would be the most important and then ask for their terms & conditions, things like deposit required, what happens if the Wedding is postponed/cancelled, availability/season of flowers if the couple is set on a specific flower, additional costs for special dates like Valentine's Day, Mother's Day or leading up to Christmas Wedding dates.

What is your availability for our date and have you booked other clients for our day?

What is your process for onboarding new clients?

What sort of flowers will be available around our date?
