Hi Elise,

Yes alternatives can be used.  I did bouquets for a bride last year and she wanted peonies.  Unfortunately they were not in season the month she was getting married so we used garden roses instead.  They were beautiful and looked just like peonies in the bouquet.  Another option would be to use silk flowers mixed with real flowers.

If your favourite flowers is not is season on your wedding date your florist will offer some alternatives.

This may be a flower of the same or similar colour or maybe a similar look.

I had a bride whos heart was set on Dahlias.

They were in season but when I went to collect the flowers I was informed that because of the weather, most of the dahlias in the state were not up to standard.

I called the bride and we discussed alternatives. She ended up choosing white fluffy chrysanthemums. Which from a distance and in the bridal photos gave a similar appearance.

The best alternative here is to subsitute with silk flowers. There are so many to choose from and they are very realistic these days.

We have often supplied a mix of fresh and artificial flowers in this circumstance. Artificial flowers are so beautiful and look so real these days that some people cannot tell the difference between them. We of course like to meet up with the Bride to know the flowers that they would like, as this helps us to find similar flowers and we can of course get flowers from the markets from Europe and beyond to supply you with beautiful bouquets for your special day.

hi Elise

When go through a quote with clients, l like to cover which flowers will be in season and those which may be difficult. I like to suggest a back up of a different bloom where particular flowers are tricky to promise. A good example is the peonies and tulips. Another option is to add these flower in silk to be combined with fresh flowers. It is very difficult to tell them apart with the quality of flowers today.

You can always have silk flowers they look amazing now you can not tell the difference, add some real foliage and maybe another real flower in your bouquet and no one will be able to tell. Best of luck with your wedding preperations.

Flowers are seasonal _ that is what makes them special...sometimes we do get flowers at market that are imported so if the seasons

are opposite in Europe we can sometimes get them - depending on what they are ! there of course is an increased cost with imported flowers...

but your floral designer can offer you alternatives and can show you other options in fresh and artificial if required_ your floral designer should have an extensive folio to show you options....

Hello Elise,

If the flowers you would like are not in season for your wedding we can always see if we can import them but the cost of importing them could be a little more than you had originally expected. You could always go for the silk which look the real deal less the perfume. Hope this is of help to you.

Sometimes your florist can order them in from interstate or overseas. Its not something that can be guaranteed but worth trying. Another option can be to use good quality fake flowers and mix them in with fresh foliage and other flowers so its harder to notice. It does depend on what the flower is though. Also your florist may suggest something that is similar that you may like too. Goodluck and i hope you get something you love.
