dahlais are a great choice _ choose a florist that knows how to care and store them they will advise of the best flowers
fora hot summers day
Depending on when your wedding is, dahlias can be a wonderful summer flower, but there are a few important considerations. In Melbourne, dahlias are available from around November through to April, however they’re generally at their best from January onwards. We’re currently in mid-December, and they’re only just becoming more readily available now. Seasons can vary, and spring rain and late frosts, like we’ve had this year, can delay growth and flowering.
In terms of availability and performance, decorative dahlias are the most readily available and tend to be the most reliable in summer conditions, particularly when grown locally and cut fresh. Ball and pom-pom varieties are also quite hardy and hold their shape well. The larger, showier varieties — such as dinner-plate dahlias like Café au Lait — are more prone to heat stress and can soften more quickly on very warm days.
Dahlias are still a soft-stem flower, so they don’t love extreme heat or long periods out of water. That said, with an experienced florist and proper conditioning, they are still a beautiful choice for summer weddings, especially when paired with other seasonal blooms and designed with the conditions of the day in mind.
If you’re planning to include dahlias in a summer wedding, January onwards offers the most reliable quality, colour range and availability. Hope this helps :-)
Yes — dahlias are a lovely choice for summer. They’re in season, full of texture, and hold up beautifully, especially when kept well-hydrated. We use them often for summer weddings and they photograph so beautifully too.
I think they’ll be a perfect fit for your day
Dear Precious Couple,
Yes, Dahlia's are fantastic for the australian summer.....specifically Delbard Dahlia's blooms would be my pick as these adapt well in dry heat, can be seen between December and April, we can get these in many pretty & vibrant colours. Care instructions - keeping them hydrated with water, looking after them properly - away from direct airflow of airconditioner drafts or window sun....Delightful Flowets & Gifts are located in Beaudesert, we would be honoured to help you with any of your questions about flowers and more.
Dahlia's are perfect year-round in the world of artificial flowers. If Dahlia's aren't in season for your wedding, consider high quality faux flowers as as alternative.

Hello,
Yes! Dahlias are a Summer flower. However, they can wilt when out in direct sun for too long. They perform best in a water source or sheltered from too much direct sunlight.
There are so many colours and varieties of dahlias - they are such an exciting and versatile Summer flower to work with!
Kind regards,
Tain
