Are Gerbras good flowers for a bouquet

How many flowers would I need.

If you like gerberas then they are an gorgeous flowers to use in wedding bouquets. They are bold and create a high visual impact. Mini gerberas are also a great choice but not as bold an they are smaller.

Gerberas are not the best choice for buttonholes, corsages or hair flowers though as the petals are very delicate. If knocked they fall off easily and when wired the petals will wilt before other flowers.

I hope this helps

Is a large bouquet and a flowercrown too much?

This would depend on your dress and hairstyle.

If your dress is quiet plain and you hair sleek or tied back then having more flowers looks beautiful.

Hanging floral installation in Melbourne- what is a rough estimate?

Hi, I was wanting to know the rough cost of a hanging floral installation of roughly 2x4 m in Albert Park Melbourne? Thanks, any help is much appreciated!

Hi Pauline,

To give an exact price I would have to see the venue (even just in pics) so I could get an idea of difficulty.

From there, along with your vision and ideas I create a mood board just for you with a wedding flowers proposal that will hopefully inspire you.

To give you a tip, stick to seasonal flowers and foliage. This will keep the costs down and help you stick to budget.

whats the price difference between real and fake flowers?

Hi there,

It really depends on the kinds of flowers you are after. If you choose fresh seasonal flowers it is usually cheaper than sourcing good quality artificial flowers. I really believe the only benefit to artificial is that you can actually have them in your possession well and truly before the wedding. Also, they are less likely to get damaged if dropped and are guaranteed not to wilt no matter how you treat them.

I hope this helps

if i pick my own flowers, will they die during the day?

I can't give a simple yes or no as I don't know what varieties of flowers you want to pick.

There are some flowers that last better than others when picked from the garden.

I have made bridal bouquets where the bride has supplied some flowers from her grandmothers garden. Some of them I coud use, others I could not as I knew they wouldn't last the day.

is it even worth hiring a decorator if you want your florist to decorate your venue?

can florists do basic decorating?

It is not necessary to hire a decorator to decorate the venue if your Florist is able to do it.

Some couples hire a stylist who I can work with for venue flowers. Ocassionally the stylist/decorator will set up the flower arrangements which I supply or I am happy to set them up.

At the moment I am offering FREE delivery and set up of venue flowers, conditions apply.

is there any way to keep my flowers looking fresh all day?

To make sure your flowers look the best all day firstly make sure you find a florist who knows what they are doing. By this I mean, they will have an understanding of what flowers 'hold up' the best for a day out of water, and advise you accordingly.

They will also specially prepare certain flowers ready for a tough day, this may be as simple as wireing and other 'tricks of the trade'.

Once the flowers are in your hands there are a few things you can also do to help.

Keep them in a cool place until needed, maybe in water if natural stems.

Keep out of direct sunlight and away from a heater.

Keep somewhere that they will not be knocked like in the laundry.

While at your wedding and reception, simply be gentle with the flowers (until you need to throw the bouquet).

Place the bouquets on the bridal table or even better have vases of water ready for the bouquets to sit in.

how far in advance should i book my florist?

Many florist's book up months in advanced, so if you have a particualr or favourite florist in mind you need to get in quick.

Most florists should be able to organise your flowers within a week. This does depend on what flowers you are ordering and if they can fit you in, which is iimportant to remember.

how much am i looking at paying for a hanging floral installation?

Hi there,

The price all depends on the difficulty of the installation. At the moment I am running a special that includes FREE delivery and installation of your wedding venue or reception flowers.

can florists and decorators work together?

Yes, Florists and decorators/stylists/wedding planners often work together.

When flowers are booked with me I am happy to liase with your decorator so you have more time to plan other parts of your wedding.

Your decorator can often communicate very clearly the look you are after, which helps me create your perfect flowers and saves you time to plan other parts of your wedding.

I also work closly with venues, organising delivery times and set up procedures, again, saving you the stress.

would a miniature bouquet for a flower girl cost less than a bridesmaid bouquet?

Yes, it will cost less. If the same varieties of flowers are being used but in a lesser quantity then it will be less.

Should my bouquet match my centrepieces?

Not necessarily.

Usually they may have the same colours but as your ceremony is sometimes at a different place to the reception they can be different.

I once made some beautiful rose posies in soft pinks, lemons, and creams. The dresses were is in very pale pastels.

The reception on the otherhand was the Fairfield Boathouse in Victoria which is very rustic.

Thh couple decided to scatter little quirky bottles and vases on the tables. The coulours were all random, quiet quirky, not matching at all as she told me "I want them to look like they are picked from the garden".

It looked beautiful.

If my favourite flowers won't be in season on my wedding date, is there anything I can do?

If your favourite flowers is not is season on your wedding date your florist will offer some alternatives.

This may be a flower of the same or similar colour or maybe a similar look.

I had a bride whos heart was set on Dahlias.

They were in season but when I went to collect the flowers I was informed that because of the weather, most of the dahlias in the state were not up to standard.

I called the bride and we discussed alternatives. She ended up choosing white fluffy chrysanthemums. Which from a distance and in the bridal photos gave a similar appearance.

Bouquets to match my oddly coloured wedding dress

I am getting married in February 2017 and I am looking for inspiration and pricing on what colour flowers would go well with my vintage rose coloured wedding gown and navy blue bridesmaid dresses - I am at a loss! Please help!

My rule is. If you can't match a colour, choose a contrasting colour instead.

My suggestion would be to choose 2 or 3 vintage, dusty pink couloured flowers. Use the same colours in the brides and bridesmaids bouquets.

Blue is always extreamily difficult to match.

How much do flower bouquets usually cost?

Bridal bouquet costs depend on many factors. Mainly the types of flowers being used and the type of arrangement. For example. A natural stem bouquet will cost a lot less that a fully wired teardrop or trailing bouquet.

The florists skills, qualifications and reputation will also make a difference to price. Just as different restaurants have varying prices for similar meals.

How can I guarantee the type of flowers I want will be available?

I'm really set on having my favourite flowers as part of the floral arrangements on my big day. How can I be sure they'll be available?

You need to discuss your favorite flowers with your florist.

They will then let you know which ones are available at that time.

You need to find a florist that you like and trust. They should make you feel confident that they can sort things out if there is a hicup with flowers.

I always contact the bride a week before the wedding with an update on flowers and if there may be an issue.

I always have a few solutions that we can take so they are confident that I'll take care of everything and they will love their flowers.
