There are several key questions in buying bridal dresses. The most important thing is the make of the dress, will the dress be made to your body measurements (Made to Measure) or will that be made in standard sizing (Made to Size). Made-to-measure dresses will always have less alteration costs as well as outcome would come perfect most of the time.
The second most important question is the quality of the fabric, materials as well as make of the dress. You may end up paying a couple of hundred more for a European fabric and materials as well as workmanship but it would eliminate last-minute unexpected quality issues.
It is important to seek out accurate lead times, and more importantly accurate alteration costs. These alterations can run into hundreds of dollars, so if you are led to believe you are getting a "bargain", ensure these costs are factored in to your purchase price.
It is best to make an appointment to get the most out of your fitting experience and at the same time ensuring you are trying on dresses that suit you, which may be entirely different to the dress on a model.
Avoid being pressured into buying if your timeline is short and always enjoy the experience.

As a designer of Judith Penak couture I always advice brides ," are you prepare to paid extra for alteration of wedding gown you purchase of the rack?"
After all consider to have your customised wedding dress
Judith Penak
Glen Iris
Where is made what fabric is used if of the rack how much it cost the alterations
It is important to know if your gown is being made to your actual measurements or do you have to factor in alterations charges. The average price to alter a gown including the hem would be around $600 with many being more like $800.
Make sure you seek advice and know the alterations are possible, never purchase a gown that is too small in hope you will drop weight as letting out is often impossible but you also don't want to order a gown that needs taking in more than 2 sizes as the whole shape and width of the gown will be too wide for you, these are things that are very costly to fix.
I hope this helps

Ask a question
When buying your wedding dress, it's essential to ask the right questions to ensure you get the perfect gown. Here are some key questions to consider:
Make sure you know how long it will take to order the dress and when alterations can begin to ensure it's ready on time.
Clarify if the price includes alterations, accessories (like veils or belts), and any other fees to avoid surprises later on.
Alterations are often necessary, and the cost can vary depending on the complexity of the changes. Ask for an estimate so you can plan accordingly.
Many brides find it helpful to take photos during their fitting to remember how they looked in each dress. Be sure to ask if this is allowed.
If you want to add or change details (such as sleeves, beading, or length), ask if these customizations are possible and how much they’ll cost.
Ask about cleaning and preservation options to keep your gown in pristine condition after the big day.
