This is embarrassing but how am I meant to go to the toilet in a mermaid wedding dress?

My dream dress is a super fitted mermaid wedding gown - but without sounding crass - how does one pee in a dress like this? I've seen ones with a lace up back - but that seems like it would take ages to undo and do back up. I've heard of other brides simply not going for the whole night! Not keen on that idea.

If the gown wont go up over your hips, unfortunately your only choice is to get out of it, and then back in to it.  Hopefully your venue have a larger batheroom to allow for this, and perhaps you could have one of your bridesmaids come in, unzip you, and then you could step into a robe to go to the bathroom.  Alternatively  you could have an easier to party 'reception dress'. for later on that you change into once you 'break the seal'  :-)

You can use the inner line to pick up all the tulle and long dress tail, try to lift the dress over hip for toilet. If it is too tight, the best way to take it off and ask your bridemaids help to keep it when you doing stuff.

Hi love,

We second the first response you were given- you will have to unzip and unbutton your dress with the help of your bridesmaids and then carefully put it back on after; in saying that, remember going to the toilet just before you put your gown on in the morning, so there's minimal 'hustle' later on in the day!

In any way, all the best for you and have an unforgettable day! xx

Hello lovely.
this is a question which has plagued brides for decades. I have seen weeding gowns altered to include side zips and other sorts of solutions but usually these end up in disaster

The best way to go to the toilet is by taking your dress off. This is where your bride tribe comes into the picture. Make sure they are available to carefully unzip/unbutton you so you can step out of your dress and they can zip you up again when you are ready.
Also ask your wedding venue if you can have a private room that you can leave a robe in for just this purpose.
As they say in the classics "fashion wasn't meant to be easy"

Hope this helps and all the best on your special day

Hi there,

Unfortunately if the dress is very fitted below your waist and over your hips and you can't wiggle it up enough then you will have to unlace or unzip each time you need to go to the toilet. It's definitely a

time consuming aspect of a mermaid dress.
