Is it weird to buy a 2nd dress to change into? I love mine but it's heavy.

I still have 8 months to go

Two dresses are the go these days, but it does depend on your budget.

Absolutely not weird at all. We have many brides that change into a more comfortable dress for the reception. As long as your budget allows for it and that is what you want to do, go for it.

No! It's actually very common for brides to have two dresses. They'll wear one for the ceremony and then have a second one for the reception. Kate Middleton had two dresses exactly for that purpose. It really depends on budget whether you can afford two dresses, but I've always known brides to have two looks so it's not weird at all!
