Expert Advice

As a wedding professional, TwoBirds Bridal offers expert advice to help couples plan their perfect day. Ask a question or read their expert advice.

What’s the lead time for a wedding dress now because of COVID?

Has covid changed how far out I need to order my wedding dress? What are the lead times for wedding dresses at the moment?

TwoBirds Bridal

The leading time will be around 6 to 8 months to have your made-to-measure wedding dress ready.  This time frame will include the time for your fittings as well to ensure you will have your wedding gown with no rush.

We would like to invite you to the largest bridal store of New South Wales to view and try on our gowns ??

Do most wedding dresses need to be altered?

What’s the likelihood that I’ll need alterations for my wedding dress and how much would I be looking at? (Wondering if I should do made to measure instead.)

TwoBirds Bridal

In general speaking Yes, if you purchase a standard size wedding dress, you will need alteration to ensure the perfect look of the dress on you. If you purchase or make a made-to-measure dress, then your dress may not need any alteration if there are no changes in your measurement during the amount of time required to make your dress.  But, even in the worse cases, your alteration will be very minor for made-to-measure dresses.

What type of bustle should I have?

Hello, I have an A-line wedding dress with horsehair trim. What do you recommend for the type of bustle?

TwoBirds Bridal

It depends on the length of the train but I believe adding button and hooks should be OK

Can you still hire wedding dresses?

Is wedding dress hire still a thing? I don't like the idea of buying a dress I'll only wear once. There doesn't seem to be dress rental around, but I feel like it use to be? Would love some recommendations.

TwoBirds Bridal

Hi,

When you rent a dress, you pay a lot of money to wear it for a couple of hours and then have to bring it back in perfect condition. You do not own anything but just the right to wear a dress that belongs to a store. If somehow the dress gets damaged, the drama starts, and the store will keep your bond and ask you to repair the dress which may cost you even more.

But, when you buy your wedding dress you can keep it with you, you can resell it as a pre-loved dress, and/or you can pass it to the next-generation (this rarely happens but still an option).

When you resell your dress, although this takes a bit of time, you mainly get most of your money back.

Kind Regards

I'm a 71-year-old bride-to-be, I don't want a white dress as I've been married before, what can I wear?

I don't want a bridesmaids dress either, and nothing too fancy. Any suggestions?

TwoBirds Bridal

Congratulations!

We have champagne color simple styles in our showroom if you interested. We also have a large variety of evening wear if you do not like to wear a wedding gown.

We can also simplify and make our dresses in several colors that you might prefer.
