Is it just a fancy word for lunch?

A luncheon reception is similar to a lunch event, but it's more than just a meal—it's a chance to celebrate with delicious food.

For instance, guests will enjoy starters like cold mixed olives and fresh Italian bread at our upcoming wedding luncheon, followed by entrées such as Caprese Tart and Charred Chicken Caesar Salad. The main courses include options like twice-cooked pork belly and slow-braised beef rib. We also cater to dietary needs, ensuring everyone can enjoy the celebration.

Hi

As with a brunch reception, the luncheon may be a buffet or sit-down affair. Generally held between noon and 2 p.m., the luncheon reception usually follows a late-morning or midday ceremony. Again, light fare is typical at thisreception.

deciding between a lunch reception and an evening reception.  Of course, one of the consideration is the cost saving of a lunch reception, I think almost by 30-40%.  The only problem is that most of the venue we are interested in have a limit on the time slots, generally 10-4pm or 6-12am.   We are having a ceremony at 10am at the church that we have our heart set on, leaving only 4 hours for the lunch reception.  With the time crunch, there will be no time for a lot of pictures, which is also an important aspect of the wedding that I’m not willing to forego.  However, having a dinner reception is not cost effective and there’s a gap between the ceremony and the reception making it burdensome for the guests.

Hi Mayley, Luncheon reception is just that - its a reception held anywhere between 11.30am and 2.00pm for a "lunch" meal. But... this means you will be up early to have your ceremony before noon!

Hi Mayley,

You are pretty much on the money! A luncheon reception just means that the reception is held at lunchtime rather than at dinner. The benefit to this can be that some venues and caterers have cheaper pricing rates for lunchtime functions as opposed to evening functions. The downside is that often the reception will be for a charter length of time. Although it is not necessarily a traditional time to have a reception it can be just as unique and special! Hope this helps!

Cheers
