How old is the cut off for kids meals?

Since kids meals are cheaper, how old does a child have to be before I have to pay for an adult meal for them? I'm trying to decide whether it's worth inviting children at all if I have to pay for expensive meals they probably won't even enjoy.

We cater for kids meals for children under the age of 12 years. After that they generally eat just as much if not more than adults.  We either put together a custom menu for the children if appropriate for the ages or we charge half price and they get the same food that the adults are eating.

Hi  13 years old usually

It is a matter if the child would like an adult meal - for boys could be a good idea.  Usually around 15 years old require an adult meal.

We usually say up to the age of 12 however you know your own children/ family some of them eat and some of them dont also some are picky

So having said that we say when you are providing final number allow 2 children to one adult when you have the small eaters however for the teenage boys who will eat an adult portion or more please count them as an adult

If you feel that the children wont eat the adult food we offer a child friendly choice

All caterers will have a different cut off for kids meals for kids of different ages. It is something that will also vary based on the type of menu you are having, for instance with a cocktail menu it can be hard to stop kids from grabbing adult canapes and so on, with a buffet some kids will eat as much if not more than some adults. Also different kids have different tastes, some kids will eat the same things as aduts where as others will only eat the basic old fashioned kids meals that we have become accustomed to. Its best to check with your shortlisted caterers to find out what their policy on kids meals is if you are having kids at your wedding, that way you know what each offers and it can help you make your decision.

Hi, we are always happy to cater for kids and we usually like to feed them first where possible and we usually find that pizzas are the number choice. We don't charge for kids under 8 years of age, we charge a flat rate of $30 for kids between 8 and 14, and full price for over 14. We are always happy to customise your menu choices and prices so feel free to contact us and discuss the best option

At Figjam and Co, we usually charge for children between 4 and 12 years - and that depends on the meal served. If its a buffet, we usually charge $2 per age of the child but we are very flexible and all menus and pricing is determined in consultation with our customers.

At Hot Coals catering, we don't do 'kids meals' as such. When planning for how much food, we take into account the ages and how many kids will be present. We find that kids over 10 often eat as much as some adults. When we prepare a quote, we advise our clients how much food might be required for the total number of people, taking into consideration depending on how many kids are attending. We're always here to help, if you have questions! Cheers, Hot Coals Catering.

Hi, each caterer may have different ages. We are 4yo and under are free. 5yo to 11yo pay 75% of adult price. 12yo and over pay full adult price. We find that in most instances the children do eat the majority of the meals. On the occasions where the children may not eat there meal, they still receive a meal so it has to be charged. Hope this helps. If you need any more information please feel free to contact us directly on info@prestigecatering.com.au or (08) 95913666. Kind regards Shelley, Prestige Catering and Event Hire.
