Family-style share platters are becoming increasingly popular, and for good reason. They create a warm, communal atmosphere that encourages guests to interact and enjoy the meal together, much like a big family gathering. This style is often seen as more relaxed and inclusive compared to alternate drop, which can feel more formal.
With share platters, guests can sample a variety of dishes, catering to different tastes and dietary needs without the pressure of being served something they might not enjoy. It also helps reduce food waste, as people can take what they like. Overall, for a large group like 120 guests, family-style dining tends to create a more memorable and engaging experience.
Both offerings are popular requests. We do more Family Style however as the variety is more attractive to clients. It stops the whole swapping of plates between guests which can be a bit of a mood killer. Canape service with interactive canape stations are becoming more popular as it allows guests to mingle more with all guests just some food for thought.

Finger food is popular
That's a very broad question and entirely depends on numbers of things including:
- the nature of the event
- whether there are pauses for speeches
- whether ther are specific diets to consider
One thing for sure is "family style" where there may be share platters tend to create an overabundance of food required to offer variety. Generally "family style" or "share platters at the table" almost invariably make the entire meal production more expensive.

Thanks so much for your question!
Family-style dining is definitely the more popular choice these days. Guests really love the relaxed, social vibe and the fact that they get to try a variety of dishes, rather than being served just one alternate meal they may not have chosen. It creates a much more enjoyable and inclusive experience for everyone at the table.
Alternate drop is seen as a bit outdated now, and while some venues still offer it, most couples are moving toward family-style because it just feels more generous and interactive.
